Namoli "darling of the critics" Brennet's second release promises to intrigue and bedazzle you. Admittedly, Brennet's gender identity may not have solidified any in the past 12 months, but her songwriting skills continue to mature and shine on her latest release, 'Welcome to the Afterglow'(Dec. 2003). Transgendered artist Brennet merges folk and electronic influences with soaring vocals and poetic lyrics to create a startlingly honest self-portrait. The stark texture of tracks like 'Trying to Try' contrast with the techno-industrial production of 'Victoria's Secret' and 'Breathe', and the album's closing track, 'We Belong', carries a message of diversity and inclusion: "When the same old voices say/That we'd be better off running away/We belong/We belong anyway."
Namoli recently released an EP (Namoli B-B sides: Jan. 2004) and is currently recording her next CD, scheduled for release in June. Startlingly prolific and always poetic, Namoli continues to surprise and amuse audiences with her intelligence and humor. Her impassioned performances have garnered fans in San Francisco, Portland, Philadelphia and Estonia. (Note to Estonians: Due to technical considerations, Estonia unfortunately was excluded from the last tour but will be kept in mind for future bookings. Thank you for your patience.) Namoli Brennet: coming soon to an Eastern-Bloc coffee house near you.
"Brennet plays and sings with an intensity and intelligence that can't be ignored."
-Performing Songwriter Magazine
"Brennet serenades sweetly while challenging comfort zones of gender and beyond."

A Fine Album
author: Alicia McMillenAmongst my favorites on this album are: By The Riverside Maybe I Was Standing In The Light Dylan Street Emma Lynn Green Light and We Belong. Overall one of her best albums. Dylan Street is really a great song for listening to and getting lost in the singing, the lyrics and the wonderful acoustic guitar playing. The message behind We Belong is an important one to anyone who has ever felt the sting of discrimination. Emma Lynn sounds like a fine Irish folk tune. Green Light is a fast paced song with a story and definitely deserves a listen.
another great album!!!
