notes
I’ve been playing harmonica and guitar since 1964. I’ve also done a lot of harmonica teaching. I first taught harmonica at the original Ash Grove, which was the focal point of the 1960s folk revival. I also taught harmonica at McCabes Guitar Shop, Boulevard Music, and at various colleges and universities, all in southern California. I studied blues harmonica with the legendary Sonny Terry and chromatic harmonica with the classical virtuoso, Cham-Ber Huang. Sonny Terry primarily taught me how to produce complex rhythms while Cham-Ber Huang mainly taught me how to get a throat vibrato.
This CD, Harmonica & Guitar Duets, presents a wide range of music, including blues, bluegrass, ragtime, country, swing, Klezmer, and jazz. Unless otherwise noted, all the songs on the CD were recorded with a Hohner CX-12 chromatic harmonica and a vintage Gibson J-45 guitar. The recording was done with the Digidesign MBox and Pro Tools LE. I typically played a track of guitar, followed by a track of harmonica. This disk emphasizes the chromatic harmonica, partly because this is my main instrument, and partly because I feel this complex, beautiful sounding instrument isn’t heard enough these days.

Outstanding Range
author: Linda StockI'm amazed by David Naiditch's range and ability to inhabit different genres from jazz to klezmer to bluegrass. This CD is an outstanding accomplishment.
This is a clinic for musicians who record themselves on more than instrument.
author: David Van SyocVery fine harp player. I wanted each song to last longer because he has a lot more to say for each. Also accompanied himself very well on guitar, plus he production quality is great.
A new genre for me and it's great.
author: Bill KleinMy tastes run to classical and jazz, so I was skeptical when a friend recommended this cd, but it's great. I find myself playing it over and over. Move aside Bach, Beethover, Brahms and Brubeck.
This CD is for EVERYBODY, not just harmonica players.
author: BachI’ve heard David play, and he has “harmonica magic”. I sent David’s CD to an engineer friend who plays harp. “Super!” he said. His wife, a non-musician, liked it even more than her husband. Thirty-six harmonica songs on one CD has got to be a record. In sum, I can recommend this CD to everybody. —Just enjoyable listening.
great music
author: Bud SlackThis is one that every music lover should have. The harmonica is great and the guitar outstanding. I especially like his gentle style of playing the guitar - very tasteful. I actually downloaded the CD onto my computer and often play it softly in the background while I'm working on some other project. The choice of songs on the CD is quite soothing and not at all distracting from my work.
He's just as good live!
author: Doug MoonI've heard David live, and this CD captures that sound and virtuosity. Amazing recording, sounds like it was done in a high end studio. I'm inspired! , Doug Moon ....
David Naiditch's musical breadth and depth is awesome: he's one bad mutha!
author: Dave Fertig, Elmtree Blues SocietyDavid Naiditch is the real thing, one bad mutha on the harmonica! After his many years of study with some of the greatest living diatonic and chromatic players, along with decades of teaching experience, and tons of playing playing playing, David Naiditch brings much more than Sonny Terry's complex rhthyms and Cham Ber Huang's magical vibrato, he also brings melodious soul spread fluidly across the stylistic spectrum. This is a rare artist and rare album. Every harmonica player, and every fan of the harp, should have this album in their collection, especially if they want to see how harp can transcend genres and always sound sweet.

So many styles and so adroitly done.
author: Pete SardonSo many styles and so adroitly done. A CD that is most generous in length and encompasses a whole myriad of tuneful songs. David Naiditch coaxes a new depth of sound with his chromatic harmonica. Best of all, the women enjoyed this recording as much as the men who previewed it with me. Let's hear more!
Clean & tasty...This really gave me a lot to think about.....and practice.
author: Bill McholmThe harmonica is amazing! the Guitar work beautiful and tasty! The recording was great......don't see how you got such clean over dubs! The whole thing is really well worth being a commercial CD....all it needs is track names and some liner notes. Even the Art work was extremely well done.

A great harp CD, of wonderful music. I have been able to play with David Naiditch once. He just seems to get better and better.
A fanstastic CD.
author: Glenn CookThis CD is really the greatest. It covers so many different music styles; it's hard to believe any one person could play so many different style tunes and yet do them all so tastefully. I never tire of listening to it.
This CD will knock your socks off! It is fabulous!
author: Charlotte M. BestI doubt if you can find a better collection or more diverse music played by such an accomplished harmonica and guitar player. Give yourself a treat and get this CD and hear this amazing artist, then tell all your friends and get some more to give as gifts.
Diverse range of talent and genres
author: Don NaftulinDavid Naiditch's chromatic harping is comparable in range and depth to maybe only Charlie Leighton. The octave playing and tempo of Entertainer, the rapid runs and viola like riffing in Tarantella, Bounce It, and Beaumont Rag are truly magical and technically perfect. His interpretation of rhythmically delivering Freight Train is unique. The guitar solo of Sentimental Journey doesn't live up to his chromatic play as much as the guitar does in Jesus No East or West. Overall, this CD demonstartes one of the finest chromatic harps I've ever heard. The CD is five star on harp and four on guitar. It should be on every harper's iPod.
Great harp playing, well done, fun to listen to!
author: Big Harmonica BobDavid has done a great job here. I have watched him live and he is a real great harmonica player. I think any harmonica player or harp fan will really enjoy this C.D! He does things on the Chromatic that leave you scratching your head (how does he do that?) This is from the "less is more" production school. Just Guitar and Harp. Don't be fooled there is a bunch of great music here. This C.D. is done by a real harmonica great and it shows! Viva Le Harp!
