notes
When you hear Myla Hardie for the first time you are hearing the real thing. Myla is a blues musician, singer and songwriter who takes the traditional style of the blues and injects a modern sound. Her original songs have a style that is all her own with powerful lyrics and dynamic melodies.
Myla was born in Hollywood, California and raised in Austin, Texas. As the daughter of blues musician and songwriter, Michael Hardie, she was exposed to soul and blues music from a very young age. She began playing piano before she could walk and talk. By the time she was 5 she started writing songs. Myla also is a classically trained violist. Only 13, Myla made the decision to live with her father for a year in the former East Berlin, Germany to study classical music and tour with him while attending school. At 14 Myla started her own string quartet called, "World Haus" with Warren Hood on violin (son of legendary Texas musician, Champ Hood). World Haus became a fixture around Austin for the next four years winning several state-wide competitions, airing on local television broadcast channels and playing a weekly gig on Austin's prestigious 6th Street.
Myla moved to New York City at the age of 17 and soon decided to pursue her music career. She started writing prolifically and playing her songs wherever she could. In June 2003, she formed "The Myla Hardie Band" whose members include Brazilian drummer, Eduardo Guedes, bassist, Arthur Guedes and Myla on piano and lead vocals. The result is her new album "In the Heart Of". The band recorded their debut album at Sonalysts Studios in Connecticut in July 2003. The ten-track album includes a guest performance by Italian saxophonist Emanuele Coluccia (Jazzlito, 1999).
At 21 Myla has her songs recorded on her self-produced album which includes three songs from her father, a Bob Dylan, and a Bonnie Raitt tune she has adapted to her unique style. Take the time to listen and you will hear a young artist who has a rare understanding of music beyond her years. An artist who sounds like no other. Myla Hardie is the real thing.
"Myla has a strong naturally beautiful voice!" -Katie Agresta (celebrity vocal coach)

Good educated!
author: Michael GoldanskiIt is very nice to hear how Myla went into the footsteps of her father. Her background & good education helped her to develope a beautiful classic style in blues & ballads. I wish her to go further down the road & will keep on looking on her career. My best wishes... Micha
