notes
Following on the heels of "Foxy Music" is Mushroom's "Compared To What" CD.
The title track is a wild howling cover version of the groovy Les McCann/Eddie Harris classic - featuring vocalist Gary Floyd. (the twisted social commentary lyrics are as topical now, as they were in 1969!).
There's several extended remixes of songs from Foxy Music by the likes of Krautrock legends Faust, Bundy K. Brown of Tortoise and others. (don't worry, they're not Dance mixes,
they're psychedelic soundscapes and funky grooves), as well as new material and lastly there's a hidden live track that captures Mushroom in all of their on-stage glory, this time with a late 60's jamming Santana vibe..........maverick trumpeter Jon Birdsong (Beck, Calexico, Beth Orton)
is featured on several cuts.
