notes
Muhledy is a collective, bi-national jazz quartet getting set to release their debut recording on the Vancouver based Cellar Live jazz record label in 2007. The members of the band all compose original music for the group. Their live shows display a deeply sophisticated, humorous, and original take on the jazz tradition, one that combines a fearless and ferocious approach to improvising with a keen awareness of groove and texture. Toronto's Chris Gale (Colin James, Rich Underhill Quintet, Shuffle Demons) fronts the band on tenor and soprano saxophone, with Chicago's Jordan Baskin (Steve Coleman, Denis Carroll, George Fludas) on piano. The Vancouver-based rhythm team of bassist Sean Cronin (Bruno Hubert Trio, Mike Allen Quartet) and drummer Morgan Childs (Phil Dwyer, Bill Coon, Rob Scheps) round out this exciting quartet. The next Muhledy tour is tentatively scheduled for Western Canada in May of 2007, and the band is expected to appear at many high profile Canadian jazz venues, as well as appearing both in concert and as clinicians across BC and Alberta.
