notes
With there vengeful eyes set on the hip-hop industry which in recent years has become more reminiscent of “Sodom and Gomorra” an unholy playground for forked tongues that spew lies and forbidden apple eaters, Philadelphia’s Tidal Wave, Tarp, Adam 12, and DJ Panek, have been summoned to act upon the wrath and the bidding of the gods and through disaster will purify an industry that has been poisoned. With appearances by Legendary Philly Mc's: Reef the Lost Cauze, Doap Nixon, and Burke this cd is an instant classic stop sleeping and cop

Serious work right here! The beats, the rhymes, the samples used, even the ill artwork! This cd is a complete package of what hip-hop is all about. I heard these dudes were already recording material for there follow up album and we can't wait. Tarp and Adam 12 leave listeners yearning for more. I love the bi-polar feel this album gives. A roller coaster of feelings and emotions expressed clearly. In a hip-hop world saturated in excess and MC's who seem real insecure and caught up in what picture they paint, Tidal Wave clearly does not give a fuck! It's all about progression and it is evident on "sink or swim"....Cop this album!!!!

In hip hop, there's a fine line between coming strong and firm on the mic and fronting like you're a thug. This crew from Philly makes their case without playing a role, standing tall behind rhymes that are delivered fiercely and lyrics that paint a picture, all relayed with a genuine swagger that strays away from taking it that step too far. This balanced approach leaves the door open for a variety of stylistic and lyrical approaches, and they use this freedom to take you on a tour of their neighborhood, from the gutter to the club. The beats are groove heavy, giving a nod to the true school and mirroring the lyrical content perfectly. "Words of Wisdom" runs deep with a 70's soul groove, a fitting backdrop for the tightly woven stories they spin about growing up and the lessons they learned. The underlying message of the album is summed up best on "Gimmicks," a sparse track that takes jabs at the music industry and its lack of devotion to true artists. It's fitting then, that this album is proof that there's still groups out there that are in it for the music.
