Biography:
Matthew Tavis Johnson was born on December 30, 1982. He got his start on the piano when he was 4, just poking around with 1 finger, wondering what you were supposed to do with so many white and black keys. He continued to play through his childhood without any formal lessons, and began experimenting with writing his own material at age 14. At age 18, his first CD of orginal compositions titled "A Brighter View" was created! Now at 23, his talent and understanding of the piano have allowed him to compose beautiful melodies that people of all ages can relate with and enjoy.
Matt has performed in concert mainly on the West Coast, including sites such as San Diego,California, Oregon State University and Olympia, Washington.
Matt spent the majority of his childhood in Santa Cruz California near the ocean. At age 12 Matt and his family moved to Oregon, where he remains today. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2006 with a major in Communication. Matt played all 4 years on the Beavers soccer team as well, receiving PAC-10 honors as early as his freshman year. Through college Matt performed on many occasions, including Japanese night, and for the mid-day matinee. Matt enjoys traveling as well, and has had the opportunity to travel to and perform in Costa Rica, Vietnam, and Japan.

Even when you won't be listening to it, you'll still hear the harmonious melodies playing on in your head. And if you're like me, they will inspire you to keep writing some other compositions of you're own. The true work of a musical genius!

author: ewin phamWhat set this music above and beyond other music is as the listener, you get to be involve with the music. you can hear the story with each stroke of the key, but yet you get to tailor it to what you feel at the moment. making it YOUR song. Believe it or not, when ever I listen to the melody, I ALWAYS sing along. I've listened to many other pianist, but Matthew Johnson is by far my favorite!

Johnson's music is vitalizing. It doesn't try to impress you with technical prowess or unneccessary complication; every track seems to simply exist as it should. It is as if he did not write music but instead find it, unearthing it wholly in its current form. His music has an original, unmatched beauty that evokes a feeling of innocence and peace. This is a spectacular introduction for an emerging artist, and the entire album is utterly replayable. You don't need to listen to me: listen to the samples and make your own decision...and prepare to be impressed.
