notes
The Moon Crickets’ music is anything but ordinary yet familiar at the same time. Their sound is as diverse as their backgrounds and musical influences, yet it comes together to make a very delightful taste for the ears. Their music is food for the soul, a sandwich that has rock and blues wrapped in funk and soul. This sound is solidified by Cliff Beach’s powerful vocals and soulful delivery of melodies that are well complemented by a stellar rhythm section. Tony Hampton holding down the beat and Biagio Dull pumping the bass lines can only be brought together by Tony Ferrara’s searing guitar solos and Brian Sturges’ blues style harmonica and guitar. In a world were most people live in the “gray area” The Moon Crickets are exploring new boundaries with their own blend of music that will get people on the dance floor and keep them moving all night long.
Cliff Beach is a triple threat-singer, songwriter and keyboardist, but most of all he is an entertainer. Originally from the busy streets of Washington, DC, he takes an old school approach toward really connecting with his audience. He writes songs about love, his frustrations with life, and just trying to make it from one day to the next. Cliff writes music that makes people take a lighter approach to life and know that it is ok to laugh at yourself from time to time.
Tony Hampton has been raised on music coming from Austin, TX the “live music capital.” Tony is the band captain, keeping the music going on a steady pace and making sure the ship stays on course. It is his love for music that propels the band forward and gives it a solid rock edge.
Biagio Dull’s laid back So-Cal upbringing lays the ground work for an all-star bassist. He knows exactly when to play and when not to and lays it down consistently every time. Biagio is the backbone of the group, giving their music its stellar groove.
Brian Sturges adds his unique style of harmonica and guitar playing to round out The Moon Crickets sound and give it a down- home bluesy feel. Born in New York he grew up listening to old Chicago and Delta Blues records and plays with maturity far beyond his years.
Tony Ferrara is the baby of the group but he plays guitar with the fire of Hendrix and the stamina of Clapton in his “Cream” days. Tony can play a solo that would make a grown man weep and bring the ladies to their knees every time.
When describing the band’s sound Cliff says “ If James Brown and Janis Joplin had a baby and then allowed him to grow up and build a band mixing Jimi Hendrix’s Experience and Band of Gypsies, and then update the sound like a new Lenny Kravitz you would only scratch the surface of who The Moon Crickets are. ”
The Moon Crickets were originally formed by Tony Hampton and Cliff Beach while at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Looking to escape the cold chill of the Northeast, they moved to sunny Southern California. There they met Biagio Dull and Tony Ferrara and reunited with Berklee alum Brian Sturges and the rest is history.
Their upcoming album "The Moon Crickets LP", set to come out April 2006, is chocked full of songs that are bound to become instant classics. The lyrics and music come together to tell a story about one band, brought together to save the world from itself. Real music for real people! That’s the Moon Crickets.

Incredible. Tracks 3, 6, 7 and 9 are my favorites. Cliff is a powerful singer who delivers strong vocals everytime. He is a versatile artist which you don't hear much of these days. This is pure vocal talent. Not like what you hear today.
Soul Driven Funk Rock - Hits The Spot.
author: Karl KuhnI'm a big fan of these guys and this album. Every song has got its own unique groove that draws you in, and keeps you rockin’ through till the end of the CD! Lead singer Cliff Beach shows his versatility, singing with power in tracks like "Down on You" and "Hot Sticky Sweet", and bringing in the soul on "In Case You Didn't Know", and the band supports him start to finish with solid funky rock grooves that'll get you tapping your foot; bobbing your head; whatever it is that you do! Get this album, you won't regret it! Personal favorite song: "Fool For You"

Great Album
author: David LambertiI just purchased the Moon Crickets first album and may I say that it’s everything and more if you like upbeat blues tempos, cool melodies, spacious arrangements, sharp echoes, rocking lyric, great vocals with a sound of their own. All together in a blues, funk and rock beat if that’s what you’re looking for then the Moon Crickets debut album delivers a royal flush. The album is certainly well made and very enjoyable. I like to tell the Moon Crickets that as long as they make music like their first album (The Moon Crickets) they will always have me as a fan buying and listening too their music. Thanks Moon Crickets you guys are a gem when it comes to a cool rocking music.
I'll be a fool for these guys any day!
author: Beth GThis CD is fantastic. The sound of all the musicians is tight and the James Brown-esque vocal stylings of the lead singer can give you chills. You really should see these guys on stage. The way they kick it live on Penny Candy is sick. My advice is - check out #6 Fool For You and you will be sold on this disc. It's worth $15 just for the recording of that song.
Pure Rock!
author: Sam CrawfordThis is a band you must see live to appreciate fully. Don't expect any whining or sappy rock ballads. These guys rock. Everyone from the lead guitar to drums to harmonica. Cliff's vocals sound as if he'd been blessed by the 60's rock gods with that special rock vocal sound. I'm reminded of the Who, Cream and Jimi when listening to them. It's nice to see groups like this who know how to rock while remaining original in the process.
