notes
Monica Ashton is a Los Angeles based composer (originally from NYC and the Bay Area). Her debut CD, The Monica Ashton Jazz Band, is a labor of love. Monica has assembled an incredible band to help bring out the best in her music. Her style has been likened to Brubeck, Bob James (he wrote "Taxi"), Vince Guaraldi (Peanuts) and Keith Jarrett. You can read all about the band, Monica and how this debut album came together magically (recorded at Skywalker Sound, Mastered at Capitol Records) at www.monicaashton.com and www.monicaashtonproductions.net.

Fantastic Piano
author: Jim SchremppWe first heard Monica years ago at the Blue Rock Shoot in Saratoga. She did a solo piece about a lonely holiday that just rocked us. I was so happy to find this new CD. We listened to it last weekend on a drive and enjoyed every track.

On first listening I thought, this is nice, easy to listen to and user friendly. On second listening I said "What great musicianship". The tenth time I listened to it I said " OK, It's a keeper put it on the ipod." Thanks Monica,

author: PatrickIt's AWSOME!!!!!!! It's about time for some new and innovative jazz. This CD reminds me of true ole' school jazz! This is definately music for those who understand theory as the most important component to putting out wonderful jazz masterpieces. Keep up the good work Monica!!! Will be looking for more from your band...
Thanksgiving '01
author: Brian… a powerful commentary on 9/11. Starting from the unimagined tragedy and pain of the events: feelings of loss and despair, to the anger towards those who unleashed those horrors, and finally a sense of hope and strength. All this in a little over 5 mins. What a ride!
