Michael Meanwhile cut his teeth in New York City
playing guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and singing
harmonies for a number of bands and songwriters.
The most notable being his collaborations with local
songwriting maverick, Garth McDermott.
Performing with various artists, in top NYC
venues proved rewarding, but Meanwhile knew that
breaking away would be a chance to find his own
voice. So in the final month of 2003 he bid farewell
to his lifelong home and headed for the unfamiliar
skyline of Portland, Oregon.
This self titled CD is Meanwhile's first solo
release, and was produced by veteran NYC musician/producer
Paul Umbach. The songs are honest and arousing with
lyrics that ring true to anyone interested in life beyond
their immediate line of site. A profound declaration in
the tradition of thoughtful songwriters and poets alike.
Today, Michael can be found with his guitar,
somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, playing his songs
for all who will listen.

    "Should I cut off my head, or think less instead," and, "Here we go again, Editing my love letters and making said corrections with your red pen," are just some of the lyrics on this CD that make me shake my head in admiration at Michael's creative senses. Listening to this CD brightens my day, (as well as my sister's, my boyfriend's, and every other innocent victim that I force it upon!!)

    I generally don't listen to independent music but Michael has totally won me over. This album shimmies from carefree to serious -- sometimes in the same song! -- while consistently maintaining great rhythm and harmonies.     This CD is a keeper, every song is great. Sounds a bit like John Mayer. Sexy voice and wonderful lyrics. You can listen to this CD over and over and still not get tired of it. Great in the car, on the front porch with a beer or just hanging out music.
