MJ is a brother and sister rock/pop duo. Mariya sings lead vocal and her voice flows effortlessly through each track liking her to a young Suzanne Vega. There's a happy energy to the music similar to Michelle Branch's breakthrough album (The Spirit Room).

MJ is a brother and sister rock/pop duo based out of New York. Mariya sings lead vocal, while John sings backup and serves as the music producer. Their combination of songwriting talent and amazing vocal ability creates an unusual team (a la The Carpenters) not seen in the modern music world.

MJ is releasing their first CD, an E.P. of five songs entitled "No History." Mariya's voice flows effortlessly through each track liking her to a young Suzanne Vega. She brings an upbeat, happy energy to the music similar to Michelle Branch's breakthrough album (The Spirit Room).

An alumnus of Berklee College of Music, John's work has already gained national exposure through both TV (Dawson's Creek) and print (Music Connection).

Mariya continues her education as a high school junior while studying voice, piano, and dance. John plays piano, sax, guitar, and works under NYC Producer/Songwriter Peter Zizzo.

    All five songs are exceptional in their surprising harmonics and lovely melodies. The production is impeccable. Mariya's voice is a pleasure, and John's musicianship is inspiring. A must buy for any fan of melodic pop!

    If you lean towards pop artists like Michelle Branch, MJ's tightly-produced, five-track album, "No History" is one you don't want to miss. With acoustic guitar at the center, there is an inherent folky jangle to each of these sonic pop songs. She hits the nail on the head creating well-written songs with all the pop appeal her demographic reaches for. Having gained attention through the WB's Dawson's Creek, her songs are sure to find their way into the popular charts any day now.
