When you listen to my music, I want you to close your eyes. I will take you on an adventure to a time when there were two classes of people. Rich & poor. When the Church and the Crown ruled the land.

notes

Mistress Bawd ". . . A female character from 16th Century England...a kind of combination of an inn-keeper and a lady of the evening...classy, sassy and independent. . ."(Susan Kay)

A vibrant singer and dazzling 12-string guitarist, has captured classic songs of love and life from the Renaissance era with her first release on Hot Springs Records, "A Touch Of Renaissance."
"When you play my CD, I want you to close your eyes while I take you on a musical adventure to where the flagons were peweter, the Church and the Crown ruled the land, the arts were exploding, and the emotions of love and romance were as volatile as the passions of war...When all of Europe was awakening to a new and glorious age.

Mistress Bawd appears annually at renaissance festivals in Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, Missouri and Colorado and at other old English theme events and venues. And soon will be an International Artist. Look for her in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales & Portugal.

  • If you only ever buy one Rennaisance Fair CD this is the one

Susan's first almum is a credit to such a fine artiste. Her arrangements bring to life some of the old standards that we have thought were stale and burned out. Her gifted voice is shown to its best, harmonising with herself she provides 3 voices on one track. Hsr talents appear to be limitless as she also went into the booth and worked along with an engineer to produce a polished proffessional product. despite this Susan is a modest and self effecing with much to be modest about.

  • Love this CD!

I've had this CD since the AZ renfaire of 1999. It has quickly become my favorite "period" CD. THe songs are quick-witted and funny in Chandler's Chop and Roll Your Leg Over to the traditional Scarborough Faire. I particularly love the 12-string guitar.
