notes
Can you imagine? Churches have actually condemned rock music, insisting it was “of the devil.” To say the least, we think they’ve missed the point. The music itself – the notes and chords – is not inherently evil, nor is the distortion of the guitar or thunderous drums. If anything, what needs to be changed – or redeemed – is the perceptions of those who condemn it.
See, we believe that GOD is the creator of all things good. And that there’s something infinitely good in all music – whatever style it is (country might be the exception!). Now, if someone uses it and their talents for purposes other than what they were created for, that’s between them and GOD. But it doesn’t change the fact that the music itself is still good. After all, the gift was given by him.
So our “mission” is simply to interpret hymns, and other worship music, in musical forms that many churches have called corrupt or evil, in the hope that people’s perceptions of music and GOD can be redeemed. And to have a little fun doing it.
Redeeming The World
Living in the city of Chicago forces all of us to pay attention to real issues – like poverty, homelessness, and social justice. In one way or another, we’re simply confronted with them everyday. Even though we don’t have many answers when it comes to solving issues like global poverty, we still feel compelled to help meet people’s tangible needs in strategic ways – which is simply an extension of how we already live our lives as followers of JESUS.
Therefore, 30% of MISSION record sales go directly to a compassion fund where we choose what organizations and people to assist. With a four member board (the band), we meet to discuss various compassion opportunities in both the local and global community – utilizing a list of criteria that organizations and individuals must meet in order to be considered eligible. Through both prayer and individual research, we then make our decision. With each new round of CD pressings, we’ll designate the compassion fund to go toward a specific organization.
Our current album will be funding two new homes being built in Indonesia through Habitat For Humanity.

Eucharist
author: JessicaI heard Mission for the first time at a conference I attended in April. I was instantly a fan of the band and when I found out they were selling their CD I raced up to get a copy. I have listened to it constantly ever since and cannot get enough of it!! Their arrangements of familiar songs are incredible and their own songs are moving. They breathe new life into old hymns and I was shocked by how much I loved them!! This is one of my all time favorite CD's and bands and I am grateful that I was introduced to their music!!! If you haven't already listened to it, you must check it out!!!!
Ressurection Hymns
author: Brian RalphMany churches seem to have replaced the hymns with modern chorus's. The classic hymns cannot be replaced. This band seems to have a love for the sacred hymns and have injected a new life into them using all kinds of styles of music. I'm still a fan of the organ when it comes to hymns, but for those unfamiliar with the classics, this is a great intro. The musical arrangements are tremendous. The production quality is wonderful. Well worth the purchase.
