notes
1995: the second year of what was to become an annual event found itself with far too many contributions to include as compared to a year earlier when there were only five bands found doing original independent music in the area. however, these are the 23 that took part.

Great compilation CD of Keweenaw artists that makes you feel like you were actua
author: S. KuzmaThe thriving local music scene in Houghton (1994-1997) centered around Bernie Larson and Emily Smith, the SubUrban Exchange (1994-1999) [later reopened by Larson as ExUrban (2003-Present)], Motherload Coffee House (2001-2005), and the local zine Spam. It was a bubbling melting pot of creativity that produced some great artists, great music, and great art, and best of all by great local people. But sadly though, for enthusiasts who love this CD and/or any of the featured Misery Session artists, most of the Houghton area musicians and artists listed here never cut a full length CD, and have since disbanded, graduated, relocated or just plain moved on...much to the chagrin of everyone interested. I hope they all reunite soon for a Copper Country benefit concert and cut their own albums while they’re there! But if they don’t, then at least we’ve got this great Misery Session compilation, as a ‘record’ of that time.
