notes

Born out of the ashes of romantic tragedy, this Long Island based ensemble brings an honest, heartfelt message of love, life and laughter to each performance. The talented brother-sister duo of Dave and Krista March, with musical journeyman Jonathan Preddice, combine to bring a unique texture of harmony and song. After adding young phenom Rob Caniglia on percussion, and the talented Leanne Preddice on the violin, the ensemble has expanded its horizons to both acoustic and/or full band performance setup. Miles to Dayton will leave a lasting impression on your ears, relying on quality musicianship along with a melody that will carry you back to the next show. With the successful release of their first album "A long way back" in 2005, the band has developed a strong regional following. With the recent release of their new album "Rise", released June 21, 2007, at the Patchogue Theater, Miles to dayton is ready to rock you with a solid wall of sound, a tidal wave of positive energy that will surely make you sing along.

M2D has maintained a busy performance schedule in the Northeast, with notable performances at legendary venues such as The Stephen Talkhouse, The Patchogue Theater, The Knitting Factory, Eastenders Coffee House, as well as participating in the Millenium Music Conference, Meany Fest 2006, Great South Bay Music Festival and the Patchogue Folk Festival.

  • well worth waiting for

This band's sophomore CD was well worth waiting for. These kids from Long Island continue to blow me away with their tight harmonies and first rate musicianship. Their musical signatures are uniquely their own and comparing them to anyone else does not do them justice. If you don't own a copy of this CD as well as their first you are missing out on many moments of pure musical magic.

  • Amazing song writing mixed with incredible talent.

Song Writing, Song Writing, Song Writing. From start to finish the talent of these young musicians shines through like seasoned pros who have Grammy after Grammy on their shelf. Radio friendly tunes that surprise you with each track and leave you humming the tunes for days. Listening to this music you immediately want to know more about the band, hear more, and recommend it to anyone who will listen. Krista March has an angelic voice that falls right in the vein of Delores O'Riordan or Natalie Merchant with its one of a kind, immediately reconizeable quality. Her voice is the soul of this band and she makes you listen closely to each word. The rhythm section of Dave March (bass) and Rob Caniglia (percussion) is so tight on some tracks that it is obvious they love working together. If the star of this album is Krista March, than her co-star is Jon Preddice. Jon's voice and multi-instrument playing comes across as truth. When a musician gives all that they have, the listener is left with a small view into their soul. JP leaves everything on the table and makes no apologies. All this, with the addition of Leanne Preddice's beautiful string textures, provides the listener with an album that feels complete. Classifying it in a genre would be a waste of time. It holds elements of rock, folk, and a touch of classical, but truthfully it is creating its own label. Buy this CD.
