notes

Miles' music has one goal, to make you smile while we make you move. Whether laying on the back-beat or driving it through your living room, this music is made to keep feet tapping and your soul at ease. On their 5-Song EP, "Wow And Flutter" they show you just how many good times you can pack into a four minute groove. It began as a boy (Marc) with a guitar (Marc's Guitar) and a dream (yup...Marc's dream). To play songs that people could move too, but that were still as much fun to play as they were to listen to. Having been trained from a young age in the ways of the classical and jazz saxophone, Marc was no stranger to musical theory, and taking from a vast array of influences, started to compose tunes that mixed this love of pop with some of the more learned influences from the jazz world. Enter the band... All residents of Millburn, NJ, and it's High School Jazz Band, the members of miles all knew each other well, having played in many previous contexts ranging from Jazz Combos to Rock Bands to Klezmer Ensembles (no joke...), but it was not until the fall of 2005 that these four guys got up on the same stage and made the dream (yes...Marc's dream) truly come alive. Since that day, miles has been constantly moving forward. After the production and release of their EP, "Wow and Flutter", Miles has balanced the large distance that separates it's members and continued to gig in any way possible. Thus, if you catch a show, you may see all four guys, or you may see three (Marc and Ben with guest drummer Nick Svoboda), or you could see two. You could in fact only see Marc! But when you do, you will no doubt see a spectacle that will leave you with a smile on your face and singable melodies repeating in your ear. Having previously supported acts such as singer-songwriter Ari Hest, NY-indie rockers Jupiter One, and jazz guitarist Dave Stryker, Miles is concentrating on an extensive set of headlining and supporting summer dates across the New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania area. The guys are also working on a new self produced and engineered record due out next fall! So if you're in the area come down and experience miles, you won't be disappointed.
