Album Notes

REACH OUT & HELP SOMEBODY is the new CD from the Los Angeles based gospel quartet the MIGHTY REVELATORS. Formed in 1964 the group has toured Europe, Canada and Central America and has become a favorite on the House of Blues Gospel Brunch circuit since 1996! They have recorded many singles; along with an LP for Ray Charles label Tangerine Records, but this marks their first major lease in over a decade! The title of the CD was taken from the opening song “If I Could Reach Out” written by the great George Jackson. It has great cross over potential and will be the first single released from the CD. Reverend Holmes has written some great songs for this CD including “Do A Little Better” a song that will encourage us all, “Somebody’s Talking” which can help us deal with gossip and jealousy, “Already Been To The Water” telling us about the glory of baptism and “World’s On Fire” a song about how faith can help us through the worst of times. Pee Wee wrote three songs on the CD including a great up-tempo number “Getting Us Ready” that will prepare us for the great day and one of the most unique gospel songs ever written “Dangerous Time” which deals with living in a post 9/11 world. The group also rearranged two traditional songs; a wonderful ballad called “Stood On The Banks Of Jordan” and “Lord Lord” a song reminiscent of classic James Brown that gets some help from long time friend and leader of the Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Joe Ligon. The MIGHTY REVELATORS will tour Canada and the United States this year playing many festivals and concerts to support REACH OUT & HELP SOMEBODY. They can also be seen at various House of Blues locations performing at the Sunday Gospel Brunch.
