notes

This CD includes Michigan Mark's cover of the beautiful rock classic "A Whiter Shade of Pale" made famous by Procol Harum.

Michigan Mark is known around West Michigan for his laid-back feel that he projects onto his original pieces as well as cover tunes. Michigan Mark has been performing around West Michigan for 20 years and has performed at various festivals including Blissfest.

As a young guitar player Michigan Mark's love for all types of music and especially acoustic blues lead him to develope several finger-picking styles. Mississippi John Hurt, B.B. King, Hot Tuna, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix are some of Michigan Mark's main guitar influences. While attending Grand Valley State Colleges as a fine arts major, Michigan Mark began to explore traditional folk music including Bluegrass, celtic, old timey country and of course acoustic blues.

At the same time Michigan Mark also played electric music and started singing more and more in various rock, blues and country bands. Through the years the mixure of musical styles was where Michigan Mark found the most satisfaction. The CD "Hi" is an introduction to the music that Michigan Mark loves. Eclectic, acoustic, electric some say it's all over the map and that's exactly where Michigan Mark's tastes lie. It's the music of the people. Folk music.
