notes

get it while it lasts. With only two left. Then it's strictly on Digital distribution! This cd was really a labor of love for the artist. The tunes are from the heart. relaxing and at times lifting. Classic M.E.W. hits like the irrevernant tune "missing you..." - about a guy who goes on vacation from his nagging wife, and knowing his ships going down pens her "wish you were here".to the classic country sound of "Down on me". You'll enjoy this homemade demo from start to finish. Most of the tunes are Demos never before heard on stage or on any other format than here.Alot of the songs on this demo CD are inspired by Mike's love for native american flute, and his first attempt at writeing traditional native american music incorperating guitars and drums. There are a few POP tunes on this cd."This time" was reviewed by a critic that says he liked the intricate guitar work and the "haunting" vocal.

3rd Mar '04) "This Time " by Michael Williams - Rating: 6.1/10 I believe that there are two kinds of track: Those that improve with repeated listening, and those that become irritating quickly. “This Time” by Michael Williams is a laidback acoustic piece that certainly falls into the first of these two categories. The chord progressions aren’t overly original, but they are very pleasant, and the intricate lead guitar work helps to keep things fresh musically. I quite like the vocals too, which sit nicely in the mix and have a slightly haunting quality to them, but I’m not convinced with the delay effect - a little too retro for my liking, although it does help to fill out the rather minimalist soundscape. Lyrically, there is a noticeable lack of depth, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two of these stanzas had been used before. The artist should try and think of new words to describe old feelings. In saying that, this song is short, sweet and easy to listen to, and it would be even more enjoyable if it weren’t for the below-par recording quality. The guitars sound a tad “tinny” and there seems to be a glitch in the fade-out circa 3:00. Overall though, this is an addictive little number with some potential.
