Michael Perry and his band the Long Beds most often appear as the second half of the bill after Perry performs material from his three books ("Population:485"; "Truck: A Love Story"; and "Off Main Street: Barnstormers, Prophets, and Gatemouth's Gator") and two live-humor CDs ("Never Stand Behind a Sneezing Cow" and "I Got It From the Cows"). The Long Beds are a rotating cast of musicians including Billy Krause and Justin Vernon, as well as members of the Jaggernauts, the Mighty Bullfrogs, and DeYarmond Edison. I like all of the stuff. My main reason though,,, do you I guess you do,,,, remember who I am,,,,, I some times see you at auctions last one was at north star, and I have been to your signings at chetek and Bloomer,,,, also stood next to you aat Herb G auction (you bought the hoovercraft. anyway I have heard you live at Fall Creek,,, My son lives east of Fall Creek near the Eauclair river. Reading "Population: 485" and "Truck: A Love Story," I laughed and I cried...and felt as though I knew the people about whom I'd read. What a treat, then, to find another way to experience those people and their lives. It's as though I'm listening to old friends over a beer...and they let me sing along. And it's something I was able to share with the most important man in my life, who loves his truck, too.
