notes
This young and energetic New York jazz singer's debut CD offers listeners a fresh interpretation of traditional jazz.
Egbert CD is a satisfying mix of straight ahead tunes by composers such as Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn and contemporary mainstream song such as Sting's "Seven Days" and Billy Joel's "Summer, Highland Falls".
Accompanied by pianists David Budway and Peter Eldridge, bassist Bob Bowen, drummer Michael Petrosino, guitarist Ron Affif and saxophonist Darmon Meader, Egbert's singing is honest and passionate, blending an old school sound with a modern edge.

fabulous voice,great sound -really talented
author: karen egertWhat a voice! This guy can really sing. HE scats and is heavenly mellow and has a cool swing sound that is really ,really great. I was surfing under jazz vocalists and hit upon this incredible sound. "Take the A Train" is a unique and totally cool arrangement. BRAVO!Buy this CD. You may be experiencing a new star in the making.
Finally a male jazz vocalist worth listening too.
author: Brandon SheaMichael gives you the best of vocals and songs on this album. Makes you feel like you are sitting in a dark, smokey club. His version of "Take the A Train" is the nicest I have heard in quite a while. He slids right into this song and sings it with ease.
