No, really. I know. You're thinking, "Is this guy psycho? Or drunk? He rewrote a bunch of Irish songs with lyrics about cats? That's just crazy!"

I know, I know. They keep telling me that. And maybe I do love cats a bit much, but c'mon why not.

    Its a great CD. One of my favorites, despite the odd looks I get while playing it at work. And the cat actually listens to it. The little Mews that populate the songs...he actually mews along. ^.^ awesome CD, and I looks forward to more of your music.

    This is an album the ENTIRE family enjoys. By which I mean, I love it, my 8 yr old loves it (and it is utterly appropriate for her to hear!), and both of the felines to whom we are servants are rather fond of it as well. This is among the first albums my daughter has been able to hear (since getting hearing aids) and she often gets completely enthralled. Thank you, Marc, for making this (and other) wonderful songs for lovers of celtic music, cats, (whistles innocently) drinks, and parody.

    So many good songs it's hard to pick a favorite! Good humor and excellent music. "A Cat Named Rover" rates high. As a dyed in the fur cat lover and Celtic music fan, this album was irresistible! I am currently owned by 7.5 cats. (The half cat belongs to my neighbor, but she(the cat) visits a lot.) Cat #7 has her own apartment in my garage. She is not socialized, so the only way I can see her is with a network observation camera. Cats 1-6 live in my house. Thanks, Marc, for the perfect album for a Cat and Celtic fanatic.

    I love to sing Irish Pub songs and am trying to make my two orange tabbies love them too. I named the girl after a doctor who visited me in Dublin, the doctor was Finnuala Fitzpatrick, so I named the kitten Finnuala Fitzpatrick Casey and her brother is Tadhg Bantry Casey.     I'm sure this album has a specific target audience. Being a folkie from the 60s and being owned by 9 cats, it is right on target on both fronts. How delightful. My personal fave is A Cat Named Rover. Keep up the good fun.

    These are great musicians, complete with furry backup singers, and this is a very professional CD. (The penny whistle on Old Grey Cat is mesmerizing!) These people know their music and know their kitties. I purchased this CD for my father who loves Celtic music and is also a cat fanatic (40? 50?).     The CD is very funny. I love all the traditional versions of the songs on it, but this time they are performed in a way you usually not hear them. My cats loved it and ... my dogs to. I never forget the faces of my cats, looking at the stereo and at each other, trying to find out who was in the stereo.

    This is such a wonderful fun CD..the music is fantastic the lyrics, well my two cats and I totaly love them. They remind me a lot of the songs that a friend of mine use to play in the pubs. We'd all go and sing along but these lyrics are more fun. Truly a great gift if you know any cat lovers. The service was amazing had it within three days from US to Canada.     I was searching for the perfect St Patrick's and get well gift for a friend of mine. Both he and I have two great loves--music and cats! This is an amazing work that hit the target perfectly.     If you love cats, are a wee bit Irish, and like to drink (milk or otherwise), you'll love this CD. I hesitate to call these songs parodies because some of them transcend the originals. Furagone's Wake was one of these. A very well produced CD that is a lot of fun to listen to many times, and to surprise friends with. I find myself singing these songs while grocery shopping, so be warned, they will become a part of your psyche. Enjoy!

    I was tickled when I first heard a clip and then when I listened to all the clips I HAD to have this CD. I don't tend to buy many CDs because I usually only like 1 or 2 songs on them. But every track is a meow-valous as the next. I bought 2 (one for me one for a friend) and she is just as thrilled with it as I am. I can't pick a favorite, but both my friend and I howled with delight at "The Mining Ship the Red Dwarf" just picturing Cat even though I've only seen a couple of episodes. I hope there are more songs to come!

    This CD is fun, dear, weird and sometimes meditative, much like my cats. "Jasper Tabby, kitty-cat-y," replays in my head and is my favourite with its unabashed expression of love for cats, and I love all the other songs too. Keep it up, Marc! The songs are wonderful and bear many repeated listenings! I only wish there were a lyrics sheet enclosed; then we could sing the special lyrics when we're feline fine on St. Cat's day!     Great work. there are sites telling me that irish songs are not there. I kept searching on aol and I found this cat irish site.     I first heard a few of the songs from this CD on the DragonPage podcast. Being a cat lover and a lover of Celtic music, how could I resist purchasing it? I particularly like "Wild Kitty" and "Black Is the Color (Of My Cat's Fur)." My two cats, Luke and Leia (the black one - and yes, they're brother and sister :) love the CD, too. I bought three copies so I could give out two as Christmas gifts!

    OK - what Marc Gunn has done is easily worth the pain of having to listen to barking dogs (well, for a few minutes anyway) do Christmas songs. He (and the cats) laughing at the new lyrics to the old tunes. And his are frequently better than the originals. Buy this album - then share & tell others where to get this one.

    Long before it came out, this album was being buzzed on several elists that I belong to. We all downloaded the samples and read the newsletters. I had been waiting breathlessly for months, ever since I heard about this hysterical album, waiting for the cat songs to come out. I love cats. Also, I belong to a historical research and re-creational group, so I wanted it not only for myself, but for my friends who play celtic, filk and other music. The release coincided with my theme wedding, so I bought CDs as attendant gifts for all the musicians. I also took my personal CD to the reception and played some of the slower ones to dance to. It's hard to dance when everyone is laughing so hard.

Then you may just enjoy “Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers”, the latest solo effort put out by Austin, Texas’ modern minstrel Marc Gunn and his group the Dubliner’s Tabby Cats. So much more then a mere novelty, on “Irish Drinking Songs…” you’ll find melodies to classic Irish jigs and ballads you may hear wafting out of a corner pub on St. Patrick’s Day, but only re-written with lyrics about America’s (and possibly the world’s) other best friend. The music, led by Gunn’s autoharp and lead vocals is mostly acoustic and as light-hearted as a cat at play. The songs will make you laugh such as “Wild Kitty”, and “Furagone’s Wake”, make you cry such as “Black is the Color of my Cat’s Fur”, and make you realize why you love cats so much, such as “The Demented Cat Game”. If this was not enough, there is a song about a character named Cat on the now off-air British comedy Red Dwarf and a song about a group of 100 ally cats who witnessed the infamous adventures of the infant Harry Potter. All of the tracks on “Irish Drinking Songs…” are equally noteworthy and folksy; Gunn and company deliver solid musicianship and produce a fantastic sounding album, (not to mention put their all into meowing where needed for emphasis). Some people don’t like cats…it’s true, but they have the jingle-bell dogs to keep them happy. I say let them eat cake…or dry kibble. We feline-inclined people have this album to call our own. I highly recommend this album, for if you own a cat or have ever owned a cat before, then you will understand why I, and Gunn and Co., love them so.

    We listened to this CD on the way home from KCRF and were delighted! Yes, it has some real filk-rific groaners and lots of giggles, not to forget a couple of "OH no, he did't!" But what most impressed me was the attention to detail and the real musicality that went into this CD. It's not all silly songs; it's a quite wonderful piece of work in its entirety. Your Celtic music collection is not complete unless you have this CD...whether or not you're as much a cat lover as Marc is!
