"Attention, smooth jazz radio -- here's an idea of what you should be playing." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

notes

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, alto saxophonist Tom Meston grew up listening to Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, George Duke, Billy Cobham, and many other musicians that defined the "fusion" genre in the '70's. It was this music that inspired Meston to be a musician and write music.

Meston studied music with pianist David Budway (Jeff "Tain" Watts, Hubert Laws) while attending Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. It was around this time that he started performing his original compositions in the local jazz clubs. His band Stir-Fry played regularly around the town, making their mark as a young, energetic ensemble with fresh, original compositions. The band gained a wider audience after opening for various well-known musicians, including Pat Metheny and Kenny G.

Today, Meston's music defies labeling. It's not smooth jazz. It's not fusion. It's not funk or R&B. It's all of that and a whole lot more. Check it out.

WOW! My husband and I are jazz listeners and we are wondering why the radio stations are not playing your music. Perhaps you should send them a copy. We enjoyed your music as we were driving up to Newport Beach. Your music was easy listening and I look forward to more.

Enjoyed all the tunes.....keeps the motif going ...follows the changes well...good guitar work also... would like to see a little more tempo in couple of the tunes and rhythm could use more defining double time with center of cymbal....piano excellent ... try a little more chordal extensions ie: + 13 etc.... everything held together well...brings back memories...thanks...
