Mescalito
For the past two years the Columbus-based original funk band, Mescalito, has been in the studio creating a journey fit for the brave and funky-minded. Their lastest album contains 14 original compositions that tell a story of a journey through a spellbinding amusement park. The host, of course, is "Mescalito" a mythological creature named by the Shamen of the Mexican Indians. The elf-like Mescalito is a guide, spiritual creature, and pathfinder. Not only is the music exceptional, but the album also features striking artwork which perfectly captures the essence of the aural fixation the band has created.
Mescalito features two male vocalists, trumpet, saxophone, and a skin-tight rhythm section consisting of guitar, bass, drums, and keys. With house-shaking original material, the support of local press, and radio play Mescalito has built a loyal following. In addition to regional events, the band has served as headlining act for The Greater Columbus Arts Festival, performed live on Columbus television, been featured on the movie soundtrack for "Rawfish", and is regularly requested for several local charity events.
Mescalito will be releasing its long-awaited self-titled CD on Friday, June 4, 2004. The funktion will be held at the Ravari Room and is guaranteed to be a party like no other. Mescalito's latest release may be purchased on-line at www.mescalitofunk.com and locally at Magnolia Thunderpussy, Johnny Go's and Media Play.
