notes

ENHANCED CD: Includes the video for "The Sweater"
• CD Re-issue now includes FULL LYRICS
• "The Sweater" was a Top 40 Modern Rock hit
• Cult CD has been out of print for many years
• At time of original release, over 10,000 requests lit up the switchboard at Z-100, New York, for "The Sweater"

Originally released in 1991 and propelled by the Top 40 Modern Rock hit, "The Sweater", this album is a ground-breaking tour de force of retro 60s mod grooves, torch songs, comedic vignettes, and indie rock eclecticism.

Featuring a who's who of Canadian indie (at the time) musicians; Bob Wiseman (Blue Rodeo), Jim Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies), Tim Vesely & Dave Clark (Rheostatics), John Tucker (Land Of Giants), and the electronic grooves of Tom Third; this was a highly influential debut and a mainstay of early 90s college radio. This re-issue includes 3 bonus tracks, the complete lyrics, and the video for "The Sweater".

This CD has been out of print for many years.

"Cadell skewers topics from gender battles to the Pope's U.S. visit to unwanted pregnancies to flightattendants to New Agers to Maidenform ads on the wryly titled Angel Food for Thought"
— Gene Santoro, THE NATION

"Sort of a cross between Laurie Anderson (the ironic, winking spoken word pieces) and Jane Siberry (the ethereal, delicate art-pop songs), with just a little of her friends the Barenaked Ladies thrown in (Cadell started in the same Toronto music-and-comedy scene, and bassist Jim Creeggan plays on this album), Meryn Cadell is part confessional poet, part humorist and part songstress."
— All Music Guide
