notes
Fusion Rock. Rock Nouveau. Trance Rock. Acoustic Electronica. Whatever you call it, the unique dynamic of the band starts with a violin and a nylon-stringed guitar - both enhanced by a barrage of effects - and gets driven by an arsenal of percussion.
The music is informed by the extensive classical training of Wright and Ostberg, as well as the unique sound Bardusco brings from his experience as a self-taught guitarist growing up in Venezuela. The three players weave all their diverse flavors into a cohesive, powerful and unique sound. The influences of popular bands like The Police, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, The Dave Matthews Band, Phish, as well as the rhythms of Latin grooves and European techno/house music have found new life in the music of meniskus.
The canon of meniskus music currently stands at nearly 50 original songs, with 12 of the best of those currently being recorded on the band’s second full-length album, “Foreign Beyond.” With the guidance of Producer John McVey and the facilities of Coupe Studios (The Fray, Rose Hill Drive, DeVotchKa), “Foreign Beyond” promises to build on the success of the band's 2005 debut release, “The Wall of Sound.” The Spring 2007 release of “Foreign Beyond” is being supported through a video for the single “Letters,” as well as US and European tours.

I saw them at Longboards, Pacific Beach, Ca...accidentally, as I was there to see a friend play....but they rocked. They played a song, not released on the 2 cds I bought that night, I think called "I am a Partier"...that sold me and their 2 albums grew on me quickly. Does anyone know where to get that song or any new ones?
Amazing!
author: Michel LeBeauI saw this band in Belgium last year, and bought their first album at that concert. I saw them again at Mile High Music festival (quite accidental - I was there to see Rodrigo y Gabriela and Dave Matthews Band, and was surprised to see Meniskus there). I could not believe how much the music had grown and also their fans. There were many thousands of people there - I think most had not seen the band before, and were very excited by them. I then bought this new album, and it is now one of the favorite album in my collection. Very unique music. I look forward to see them again in Europe some time soon and I hope they bring another new album with them! They are a great band.

When I saw Meniskus live, I didn't think much of their music. However, the CD is a little better than their live set, I think. The music is fun and easy to dance to, although a little strange at first - my friend said "Flamenco rock? I'm not sure how I feel about that" when she first heard it.

author: Judy FitzpatrickI saw Meniskus in person in the New Hope area. I was very impressed by the level of expertise these guys exhibited. It was exciting and energizing to listen to their music. As a result, I bought a CD for myself and my three adult children. Who would have thought a 57 yr. old would be into Fusion Rock!
