Melodrome is an award winning pop/rock band dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. After 9/11, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the re-election of George W., Melodrome is deepening their commitment to making a difference. Looking at the "big picture", they are no longer willing to be part of the problem, but part of the solution. Melodrome is in the process of changing the way they do business. As of November 2004 they will be making every effort to use recycled materials, and to purchase products that where created by green companies. They are looking into buying a van fueled by cooking oil and will be active in anti war and political events. All products offered for sale by them will be eco-friendly. Look for the re-birth of Melodrome as a power-trio, a new CD release and a greener appearance in the Spring of 2005.
Melodrome self-released their debut, "The Sidewalk Ends", in February of 2002. To date, the album has helped the band account for two Independent Music and Songwriting Awards, placement in the 2004 Academy Award nominated documentary "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson (4 songs plus original score), two separate TV ad's, and airplay on college and independent radio stations across North America. The album received immediate critical acclaim, and wound up on NPR's top-ten list for Albums Of The Year in 2002.
Melodrome began recording their second record, "Play America", as media coverage of an impending attack on Iraq began to escalate in early Spring, 2003. Once demo tracks for the album were put to tape in the basement of the old train station, Baier set off on a seven day writing pilgrimage in solitude. Upon his return, the band packed up and headed to Woodstock's famed Applehead Recording Studio to solidify the works. "We decided to make a six song EP on purpose," Baier explains. "This way, we could say exactly what we wanted without the message getting lost among other songs on a full length CD." True to their convictions, the band returned to Woodstock on September 11th to debut the work on a live broadcast over WDST Radio's "Sessions Live" program prior to heading out on tour.
"We wanted to give people another viewpoint--something other than what they are told to believe by the media", says Baier. "It would be nice if we could concentrate on taking care of our own communities, rather than going halfway across the planet to sort out 'perceived threats'. All we're trying to say is that peace starts right next door. If everyone realized this, the world might be a better place to live."
Recent highlights include being selected for a regional "in-store" tour of Borders Books & Music stores, a distribution deal into Borders Stores (handled by Redeye Distribution & The Musicians Atlas), and most importantly, the group's establishment of S.T.A.R. (Students Teach The Art of Recording), a not for profit program that has allowed the band to "give back" to high schools in and around their local community by donating thousands of dollars worth of recording equipment to under-funded music programs.
Most new fans are genuinely surprised to find that Melodrome are still an independent band. And, it is because of that fan base the band's popularity continues to grow at a steady pace, reflected in their recent increase in album sales and digital downloads. Check out Melodrome's new album, "Happens While You Blink" which was released in April 2005.

author: MattMelodrome's cd The Sidewalk Ends is a master piece of alternative music. The second i heard it i fell in love with it. I deeply regret the fact that i have not been able to see them live in the years of my being a fan, but if they read this, please believe that i would love nothing more than to hear you play the greatest songs i've ever heard.

Imagine this: Beck-like beats and lyrical movement, U2-esque rock vs. pop sensibilities, and a voice that sounds like a cross between Jason Kay, Chris Martin and Cripian Mills. In essence, it is a contemporary rock/pop music with a slight retro flavor. I think of it as Beck playing Kula Shaker songs with Coldplay. Had enough with comparisons? Just listen, they span the reaches of rock from spaced out beat-heavy emotional songs to back porch acoustic blues.
wicked vocals, love the lyrics, real real nice

author: Hayley Melodrome's #1 fanI love their cd soooo much. And when you here them live it is like you are going into a magical heaven and you can't come out. It is soooo wonderful. I think Melodrome is the best band of my life.
Enjoyable listening in car; catchy tunes
author: Sylvia MoherSongs were versatile. Sometimes a little repetitive, but overall a refreshing new sound. Vocals were strong and could hear a little of Elvis Costello on Crush. Can't understand why it's not played on mainstream or alternative radio.
Go ahead white boy,TRY not to like this.
author: Fire-DeanAfter attending 3 music conferences this past year I left for the holidays with about 50 CD's, many of them compilations. Stuck in a van driving across country I listened to every one and except for a few cuts on the CMJ compilation (those Aware guys know how to pick em) found nothing I would listen to or show my friends. That is, untill I found Melodrome. There IS always a needle in the hay.
I have always said that melodrome is my favorite band.
author: Hayley BroderickThe Sidewalk Ends is the best Cd in the World!!! I absalutly love it. No cd is better then this one unless maby they make a new one.
The creative ebb and flow of hip hop beats melted into an album full of rock ple
author: Pamela RooneyImagine this: Beck-like beats and lyrical movement, U2-esque rock vs. pop writing approach, and a voice that sounds like a cross between Jason Kay, Chris Martin and Cripian Mills. In essence, it is a contemporary rock/pop music CD with a slight retro flavor and beats that could be considered hooks themselves. At the risk of getting too stuck in comparisons, I’ll tell you that I think of it as Beck playing Kula Shaker songs with Coldplay. Just take it all in as they span the reaches of rock from spaced out beat-heavy emotional songs to back porch acoustic blues based mini-jams. And listen for the samples. They’ve got some great ones thrown in from time to time.
Smokin'
author: VirginheadPretty damn good for three white boys, I'd say.
Maximizes potential energy!
author: August West...all the way from Colorado, the sounds settle into the canyons of the wild west effortlessly. the subtleties and simplicities echoing throughout the album catch my ear repeatedly. Effervescense, purity, and earnest sounds emminate from this album -- from Robby's sometimes raspy heartfelt vocals to Matty's impeccable timekeeping, it takes me to the Highest Ground and lets me back down to touch motherearth weightless. The confines of entropy here are barely contained... and oh, they are about to fly. And, yes, dear listeners, Love IS the highest ground. Peace* ~a.w.
Couldn't have been more impressed.
author: Travis Catalano W/studio 205This cd is so versatile it's not funny. It has a sound that you can listen to by yourself getting into it, have it on at a party for dancing, or even as background music when you have a special someone over for a romantic evening. I was lucky enough to be able to sing along with these guys at a live performance and all I could say while driving back home was "These guys are DEFINITELY going to make it." I have nothing but love and respect for these guys and would do anything for them. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!
always a pleasure...
author: Mark KurberTruly another enjoyable release by Robby... great songs, more gutsy, original music to drive the lyrics home. I get that feeling of energy one hears during Robby's live performances encapsulated in a studio work. This CD stands apart from his last release as yet another example of Robby's versatility and talent. The minute you pop it into your CD player, you'll dig it. Great energy, oozing experience! Keep up the good work!
A really great record that EVERYONE should own a copy of!!!
author: Andy RockThis album is a ballsy mix of different styles of music, combined with lyrics Bob Dylan would be proud of. Melodrome's sound is unique and will engulf the listener immediately upon pressing the PLAY button. This record has quickly become one of my favorites and gets regular play in my stereo and has made its way into the stereos of many friends whom all love it as well. It is time that everyone pick up a copy of this album ASAP. Also check these guys out live! They put on an incredible show and is a MUST SEE when they are in your area. This is one CD that you won't regret buying and is worth alot more than they are charging for it.
