notes
"a stunning collection of introspective songs", "the dude can sing up a storm"
-Bill Locey, Los Angeles Times
With its intriguing mixture of moody electronic sounds, elegant piano lines and thought-provoking lyrics, Melborne Moon’s music carves out its own place in the current music scene. His clear voice both quietly invites you inside his world and challenges you to hear him out.
As a young child, Melborne remembers spending hours on end making up songs to the sound of a squeaking rocking chair. To this day, he still enjoys using unconventional sounds to inspire him. On Moon’s latest album, "Repairing Fence", which he recorded himself in his small home studio, he used everything from a rattling guitar capo to his own voice to make loops and samples to serve as starting points for the songwriting process.
Born in 1971, Melborne was raised in a small country town in the mountains of California, not far from Yosemite National Park. Raised in a musical family, he plays several instruments, including violin, trumpet and guitar, but he has always felt most comfortable at the piano. In his live performances, Moon sings and plays keyboard while triggering loops and samples to complete the sound. He is accompanied by his good friend and drummer James Sutton.
Melborne has 4 solo albums to his credit: the self-titled "Melborne Moon" released in 1991, a 2nd self-titled album released in 1993, "Planet Life" released in 1995, and his latest album "Repairing Fence" released in 2004. Melborne currently resides in Columbia, Maryland.
