“Hit the Ground Running" is the most recent stop in The McKrells journey through the realms of Bluegrass, Celtic and Americana music. As in their previous five recordings The McKrells continue to explore "a unique style of music that makes it hard to determine where the Celtic stops and the Bluegrass begins"(Tim Farrell, Bluegrass in Review). "Hit The Ground Running", is the sixth CD from The McKrells who call the upstate New York town of Saratoga Springs home. This CD features a previously unrecorded lineup with Sara Milonovich on the fiddle, vocals, viola and tin whistles, as well as the emergence of multi-instrumentalist Chris Leske as a lyrical song writer. Special guests, Scott Petito, John Nolan and Steve Belcher also bring their talents to this recording.
With The Fureys at Carnegie Hall New York.
"The McKrells Carnegie Hall performance was golden and triumphant, every solo met with applause and every song punctuated with a roar "Paul Rapp Metroland Magazine.
With Mary Black
“With their unearthly combination of emotive vocals and fiery picking, The McKrells seem poised to fill the huge void left by the demise of New Grass Revival. The only thing between the McKrells and world domination is time. "Dave Malachowski. Metroland Magazine.
With Lonestar
If bands were paid by the number of notes they played, soulfulness, conviction, confidence or black leather the McKrells would have bagged most of the money Thursday. Kevin McKrell owned the stage and crowd as usual and sang "It's Not Me" as the country-est song of the night. His new "I Will Cry" about watching the news following 9/11 (Milonovich quoting "America the Beautiful" in the coda) won a standing ovation.
So did their set as a whole. They were a delicious bonus and surprise.
The Daily Gazette
"It's positively exhilarating to be swept away by a regional band's CD. The songwriting talent in this band is mind boggling. Why aren't The McKrells better known and why aren't they with a major recording label???”
Bluegrass Now Magazine.

HOT banjo!
author: LizzyWOW! I first heard of this band on the online folk festival. They played the song "Matty Groves" and I just had to find it! The whole album is wonderful, but the banjo is really amazing, and on that song, it's just burning up! That's right, HOT banjo!

author: MarceyA well received Christmas gift to my daughter, one of the McKrell's biggest fans. She loved the CD and only wishes that they would record a live album at Middle Earth in Bradford VT where she hears them play.
