COOKING DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
words/music Jordan Lee @2005
Something's in the oven & it's starting to bake
Jambalaya gumbo and some crab-meat cake
heading for the bayou and some cooking down in New Orleans
Mardi Gras simmers in Louisiana heat
people dancing crazy in the middle of the street
fat Tuesday's getting even bigger down in New Orleans
(chorus)
People everywhere... soaking up the rhythm & blues
Music filling the air...rhythm straight down in my shoes
Crawfish grilling over onions & rice,
Working with my honey in the kitchen tonight,
Steaming up the window with the girl of my dreams,
cooking down in New Orleans
(guitar instrumental)
Louisiana cornbread and some catfish stew,
got my reservations on St. Charles Avenue,
party never ending just spending time in New Orleans
Things begin to sizzle when the sun goes down,
Bourbon Street awakens to some shaking in town,
Good times a rolling just strolling down in New Orleans.
(chorus)
Cooking down in New Orleans,
Cooking down in New Orleans,
cooking down in New Orleans.

A ONE-SONG CD?
We recorded Cooking Down In New Orleans only three days before hurricane Katrina slammed the city and put an end to life as usual. In May of last year we decided to finally release the one song as a single on what should have been an album full of great original blues tunes.
The song is one of our favorites and we perform it often. Consider it the 'general audience version of Mati Gras.
