The McGillicuddy Sisters...
...they’re a five-member rockin' hillbilly band hailin' from the Ottawa Valley, providing lively roots entertainment in the early country genre.
Said Patrick Langston (Ottawa Citizen, January 16, 2006) of the McGillicuddy Sisters’ CD Hillbilly Hi-jinx:
"... this Ottawa Valley outfit delights in rough 'n ready covers of 1940's & 50's roll-back-the-rug country tunes by the likes of the Stanley Brothers and the Maddox Brothers & Rose. Lurlene McGillicuddy's walking bass gets a tasty workout over the course of the 10 tracks, as does Violet's fiddle, while Fanny Mae and Miss Kitty contribute guitar and vocals that manage to have fun with (without poking too much fun at) old-fashioned, high-spirited country music. Billy Saw, meanwhile, plays percussion, his beard suggesting he's not actually a ‘sister’...”
"Ya'll know it's fun luvin', foot tappin', cider sippin' music that just keeps you on a smilin'."
