Recorded completely live in a local club with no production tricks, this has to be one of the purest, most honest blues performances available. The interaction between the audience and the band generates excitement from the first note. McClung's vocals are feverishly intense, and his lead guitar work is some of the finest you will hear any where. It stings with a passion that grabs you tight and won't let go. Add the sweetness of the piano and a sizzling rhythm section and you can't resist!!! The DMBB definitely delivers some powerful, hard-drivin' blues. "Live! Dennis McClung Blues Band - the Fab Four of the Blues!
2 Apr 2006. PARIS, France. - I thought I knew how can sing Dennis McClung. I thought I knew how he and his band can play. Well, I knew nothing, but nothing at all! I couldn't imagine that it is humanly possible to sing like Dennis sings "How Blue Can You Get" on his new album Live! Out of the Ordinary. Recorded live at the Ordinary club in Clarksburg, WV, using only 2 microphones located amongst the audience, the whole album explodes the limits of the "rough perfectness" we adore the Blues for. A tribute to the Blues Greats, this record, from all points of view, may itself be considered as a chef-d'oeuvre of a Great Artist, which is Dennis McClung Blues Band - the Fab Four of the Blues!

The Dennis McClung Blues Band is currently the featured artist on the Pittsburgh Local Music Website. http://pghlocalmusic.com/

Dennis McClung has had the pleasure of sharing the stage and same billing with such performers as Guitar Shorty, Kim Wilson, Debbie Davies, Micheal Burkes, Sandra Hall, artists formerly of the Junior Wells Band, B.B. Coleman, A.J. Croce, Deanna Bogart, The Georgia Satellites, The Original Marcels, and more. When it comes to the blues, Dennis McClung has been called "a force of nature", "the real deal", and "the genuine article."
You will not be disappointed in "Live! Out of the Ordinary."

I'm probably much more delighted with " prisoner of the blues" because the covers are too numerous here. Nevertheless , high energy and tremendous guitar skill.
Rockin' Hot Blues!
author: Jackie ShoemakerLive, Out of the Ordinary. A treasure among my all-time favorite blues collections ever released. The Dennis McClung Blues Band recorded Live, Out of the Ordinary in the way that blues were meant to be heard. The raw, driving energy of Dennis McClung’s vocals and lead guitar, combined with Randy Franklin’s lively keyboard style, Bassist, Jason Corder and Drummer, Linnell Merchant’s superb musical genius, will leave you breathless, song after song! This delightful blend of rockin and I mean rockin hot blues, demonstrates blues at it’s best! You’ll be impressed with Dennis McClung’s slide guitar work in, Touch of the Delta and Blues Before Sunrise. Live, Out of the Ordinary, offers a special, spell bounding experience found only among the best legendary performers of our time. You’ll find it all here, in this absolute must-have, live recording by The Dennis McClung Blues Band. Among my favorites in this collection of electric blues is the song, How Blue Can You Get. Vocals and lead guitar performed by Dennis McClung in this song, exemplifies the master’s touch in his stunning performance. It is perhaps one of the finest examples of Eric Clapton style guitar and Johnny Winter vocals that you are going to hear anywhere else in the world. The dynamics and soulful energy of this extraordinary group of blues musicians from West Virginia , will show you how it’s done, and done right! Don’t miss it, Live, Out of the Ordinary! You’re going to love it!
Smokin' and Capturing
author: Libby D.I recently had the pleasure of listening to "Live Out of the Ordinary" and found it to be a true and unique blend of raw and pure heart. Vocals are explosive and passionate as they spill straight from the soul, and the guitar works are amazingly stunning and sweet. Keyboards are heartfelt and magical, the the percussions are simply powerful and dazzling as they capture and carry you straight to the depths of the heart of the beating rythm. This CD is so the Blues and one can't help but swing, sway and smile from beginning to end of this impressive piece of musical artistry. B.B. King would be proud.... Congratulation!! God bless and all the best. Peace n Love
Buy the CD so you'll know what we're talking about.

author: REGINA G. PARKERIn short, I would recommend this CD not only to Blues lovers, but Country, R & B, and Rocking Role fans alike. Some people can be very judgemental about certain music in general, but to not listen to this CD. . .well, that's just wrong. Thank you.
Thats way it's supposed to sound!
author: Josh GearyThis album is everything that a blues album should be, raw, emotional, fun, and just a good listen that you always want to go back to hear more of. Songs like Messin' with Kid will make you think Junior Wells and his band came in the back door and joined the band. They didn't these guys are just that damn good. This album was recorded with 2 mics in the audience so you really feel like your in a smokey blues joint taking it all in. I think this album was best summed up by one of the audience members after the end of Blues Before Sunrise, he says That's the damn way it's supposed to sound, I couldn't agree more.
Near perfect cd.
author: NormHope to see you at a little blues bar in Vancouver BC called the Yale!

author: Ed Morrison Night Life EntertainmentI've now heard the CD. These guys are for real! No one..and I mean no one sounds better or works harder than these guys. And by the way, they are a Shag Band too! They blew away the people from Ocean Drive.

In our digital world with surround sound, ipods, and 32 track recorders in every serious musician's home, we might have forgotten something... The MUSIC !!!!!!!! This is what I like about this CD, It's all about the music. Recorded in a small club, it captures the real essence of blues. After I listened to it...... I got it. It's in your face, take it for what it is, butt kicking blues !!!!! Live! Out of the Ordinary is a must for any real Blues fan's collection, it is what the Blues is really about. You can hear the beer bottles clanging in the back ground, it doesn't get any better than that !!!!!!

author: Lost Creek WVAWESOME BLUES STRAIGHT OUT OF WEST 'BY GOD' VIRGINIA - LOVE THESE GUYS !!!!!
Hey man, this is good stuff
author: Edgar MarlkinGood stuff from start to finish. Looking for more of the same! Keep it coming.
CLASSIC BLUES, start to finish!
author: crawlinkingsnakeGreat job of "capturing the moment" which is something that all blues fans love to hear and be witness to. Linny and Jason are awesome with their timing on drums and bass. Always "in the pocket" through out the entire CD. Really enjoyed Randys' piano on "Rock This House" and "Look On Yonder Wall". Dennis' guitar and vocals shine on "How Blue Can You Get" and "Everyday I Have The Blues" but, my favorite, after listening to the CD everyday for a week, is still the same from the first time I heard it. In my humble opinion, the entire band put it all togeather on trac #6. "Jelly, Jelly" is great from beginning to end. But wait, that's the case with the entire CD. CLASSIC BLUES, start to finish!
This is a 5 star!
author: Mark TestmanOoops! I got the Internet GUI blues ... I accidentally picked the wrong rating from the review form! This CD is a five star!
If you like your Blues with a rock edge ... buy this CD
author: Mark TestmanAs a Blues fan that subscribed to XM radio just for the Bluesville channel, I find the mix of Rock'n blues on this CD right up my alley ... the best Blues CD in my collection. Yes, West Virginia Blues and the DMBB is Out of the Ordinary!
Blues Monster
author: Glenn LloydDennis McClung is a blues monster. SRV would be eating this sh** up with a spoon.
No one can touch him.
author: Rick ParsonsAmazing guitar work. Great voice. Nice selection of traditional blues standards. This is the best CD I've seen on CDBABY in a very long time. Others are attempting to replicate what you do naturally. Speaking from a guitarist standpoint, I'd put you against anyone....alive or dead...famous or unknown. You've got the gift.
I saw this band on April 1st.
author: Anastasia CarrollI saw this band play on April 1st and was "floored." They opened for a well-known band and completely upstaged them. The crowd was wiped-out before the main attraction took the stage. It was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had in my life and I must say, if this band doesn't get some national attention, then something is very, very, very wrong with the blues scene. I haven't bought the CD yet, but I damn sure will as soon as I get paid!
Good God Almighty!
author: Junie ForteI am in no way, shape, or form affiliated with this band. I came across this CD (a friend of mine purchased it)and decided to buy one for myself. I love the old blues standards and couldn't help but to be drawn to the tracks. I am still giggling each time I listen to it. It great! I just had to write and tell you guys that I will be following you closely from now on. I love you!
Out of this world
author: Kelly LindeI purchased the "Live, Out of the Ordinary" cd about 4 weeks ago and have listened to it countless times. This band is unbelievable, awesome, and captures my heart. I can't wait to see them live in Oakland Maryland this June. Way to Go!!!!!
Dennis McClung Blues Band - the Fab Four of the Blues!

Way to go bluesman!
author: Tonya LodgeThis is simply fantastic. It's the best I've heard in years. Keep it coming bluesman!
Great blues CD!
author: Dusty HaysI just got a chance to listen to the new Dennis McClung CD. I think it sounds fantastic. If this CD doesn't get major attention, something is very wrong with the blues world.
Groove City
author: Ken WittDennis McClung just doesn't get in a "groove." He gets out a shovel and digs a damn trench! It's too deep to be called a groove! Yowzaa!
This is fantastic!
author: Michael HugginsI'm writing to you from the great state of Texas. Many consider me to be THE blues authority in the state. I've seen blues guitarist come and go, but I'll say this. Dennis McClung is something out to the ordinary. This CD proves that the blues magic is alive and well. For God's sake, buy this disc.
Love it!!!
author: Jim Bellows"I listened to the CD at least 5 times over the weekend and love it!!! My girlfriend is a real convert to your music too."
The wait is over.
author: Mark AllenDMBB is one of the best blues bands that I have heard. I have enjoyed seeing them at a number of different settings. I have been waiting for so long for this CD so that I could bring those experiences home. It was well worth the wait. As soon as I got my copy, I rushed home, and cued it up. This live recording was worth the wait. I felt as though I was sitting in the crowd with some good friends enjoying the ride. Not even my 2 year old could resist getting up and feeling the grove; maybe they should have carded him at the door. This album is a must have for any blues collection.
This CD is so good, I want to get all jellied up!
author: Jimbo "Scabby" WheatrightI've been playin' blues most of my life. Where I come from, it ain't no art form, it's a way of life. I come here to tell ya'll McClung is doing it right. This here's the way blues is supposed to be and the CD proves it. He's the best of the best. I done seen him up close and all personal. He could pass for an old Mississippi boy that's for sure! Damn boy!
"That's the damn way it's supposed to sound!"
author: Ben BadgerDennis and the boys have done it! Taking it a step beyond "Prisoner of the Blues", Dennis McClung ups the ante with a spectacular live album. This CD perfectly captures the rockin' live show put on by DMBB, down to the shouts from the audience and the clink of beer bottles in the background. The production is amazing, by the time you've listened to the first three songs you'll be ready to order a second pitcher and swear you smell the cigarette smoke on your clothes. The band is tighter than ever, Dennis's guitar is on point, and the addition of Randy Franklin's keyboard skills adds gasoline to the blaze. If you love authentic guitar-driven blues and/or great live music, you are doing yourself a huge disservice if you DON"T own this album! Truly a masterpiece.
Where's this guy been?
author: D.W. DogmeyerI saw this band last night. Today, I'm still reeling from the ordeal. I felt like time ceased to exist and I was somehow transported back in time to the days of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Magic Sam. This is, without question, the best live blues performance I've ever seen. Of course, I purchased this CD after the show was over. When I popped it in, my drive home was just as enjoyable. This is a must for anyone who loves electric blues.
Kick ass blues
author: Michael CanfieldI put this CD on with my Clapton Blues CDs. Hard to tell one from the other. Passion in the guitar and vocals. Like I said Kick ass blues. BUY IT
Holy Smoke!
author: Kurt SizemoreMan, this is crazy good blues! I saw this band at a blues festival a while back and was blown away. This disc proves I was dreaming. I've lived in Austin, TX. my entire life and grown up around blues bands (my dad was in one and knew many of the top cats in the area.) The DMBB could hang with any of them easy as pie. He's doing it TEXAS style. Whoo wee!
Played with the passion blues are meant to have.
author: Tim BirchDennis McClung and his boys get it... They give the music a soul and leave you wanting more.. I can't believe West Virginia has such authentic and talented musicians.. If you love the blues you have to hear this cd.. It rarely leaves my player... AWESOME !!!
Best Live Blues CD Ever
author: Matt GoodfellowThis CD is by far the Best Blues CD ever. I personally think it is the best live CD I have ever listened to. It is 100% real just like it sounds if you were sitting at the bar. If you don't find yourself turning up the volume you just might be dead!!!!
Dennis McClung-The most passionate blues guitarist I've ever heard!
author: Connie GetzAs a life long blues music enthusiast, I'm so moved by this recording that I have to say Dennis McClung is the most passionate blues guitarist I have ever heard. He has a touch for the blues that is uniquely his own.
Whoa! What a blues band!
author: James MetzDear Blues Lovers, I have been a blues guitarist for nearly 30 years. Over those years, I've had the opportunity to play with some well-known blues artists. Recently, I purchased a live CD entitled "Live! Out of the Ordinary." by The Dennis McClung Blues Band and was astounded by the passion and fury by this guitarist/singer. I truly believe it is one of best live performances ever captured. I decided to explore the matter further, and take a trip to see the band live. I stood there, "shell-shocked," after just a few numbers because words cannot convey how amazing McClung is. As the show progressed, the intensity just kept growing and growing. Finally, on B.B. King's "How Blue Can You Get?" I swear to God, I thought the roof would blow right off the joint. I am passing along all of this information in hopes all blues lovers will explore this artist and discover my claims are true. He is what the blues world is looking for. You now have the opportunity to claim "bragging-rights" to your friends by discovering him first. For more infromation, visit www.dennismcclung.com. Tell them Bo sent you.
Ripping live blues show from a hugely talented band
author: Leigh CaganThis new live show covers classics and has a great flow to it, really building in intensity in the second half of the disc. Dennis McClung's vocals and lead guitar work are outstanding, as are the keyboard and rhythm section of the band. Captured with just two microphones out in the club where it was recorded, the sound here is authentic and the listening experience is absorbing from start to finish. This live recording is a great complement to their tremendous debut studio disc, which is also available from CD Baby (and I recommend just as highly!).
