Not many artists can write a song about someone who's died too soon that is so beautiful and sad, it makes you cry deep in your chest. Nor can many artists write a song about fingerless midget prostitutes that is so hysterical you might pee in your pants. But surely there is NO artist on earth who can do both quite as well as Don McCloskey.

McCloskey is a Godsend to all of those who have been waiting for someone with a real living breathing take on music. There is a creative fearlessness in this debut CD and a spirited spontaniety that feeds the mind and frees the soul. Over a swirling musical foundation that blends everything from folk acoustic rhythms and surf rock licks to hip hop beats with harmonicas, McCloskey weaves a tapestry of lyrics that are too fresh, too poignant and too relevant to believe.

This album is a celebration of music itself- the freedom to sing about who you are, who you desperately wish you were, what makes you laugh, what makes you cry, and what makes you want to quit your job and start your real life. I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't mean it- Don McCloskey is unstoppable and Bombs Over Bristol is impossibly good.

    I first saw these guys in Bristol 'bout 2 years ago and loved it instantly. Got Bombs over Bristol CD from my friend Wesly and love every track. Now I'm on the hunt for more. A mix of sounds and styles of all my favorites............Can't wait to become acquainted with more of the McClosky philosophy!All I can say so far is, "A-Men Brother!

    Great album. Top songs: Live from the Other Side, Don't Tango..., That Love Card, Mr. Novocaine, and King of Discount Ho's. I hope he releases Outlaw Love and a number of other live performances, as I think he really is at his best live.

    Ok I have to admit I heard this song on one of the episodes of The Hills on MTV. The minute I heard the music blaring from my speakers I had to rewind and DVR all 45 secs of it so that I had a starting point for my search. CD Baby got my CD to me in about 3 days (yeah CD baby!)and I was working in my office at home on the computer when it arrived. I immediately popped it into my desktop to listen to while I was working. I don't think I got anything done from that point forward. I was mesmerized by Don McClosky's voice, his lyrics and his candid, self deprecating humor. My brother and his girlfriend actually came out of his bedroom (where they spend 18 out of 24 hours) to ask me what and who I was playing. This CD is unbelievably wicked!!! Loved it.

    Don McCloskey is a lyrical god. Whether bustin' rhymes or breakin' strings, this CD amazed me. I listened to the first song, reveling in its amazingocity, only to be bitchslapped with talent on the next and the next and the next. I reached the song Mr. Novocaine, and I could feel the saddness he sings for the loss of his friend. Then, four minutes later, I felt the undeniable urge to hump a paraplegic. BUY IT...and Northern Liberties. That one's got some great stuff, too...

    Don McCloskey is a one of a kind find. You pop his cd in and you don't know what to expect. Then, as the songs progress, you find such a mix that from song to song you're not sure what might happen. The fact that he can leap from what sounds like Snoop Doggy Dog to what sounds like Bob Dylan to what sounds like something you know you've never heard before ever, is something I've never experienced before. Marvelous!

    i had absolutely no expectations for this cd when i bought it...but when it arrived and i put it in my cd player i seriously freaked out. i have never in my entire life heard anything so amazing as mr.novacaine and all the other songs jus made you feel so...good inside. seriously buy this cd you dont even know whats missing until you hear it...and then you just understand. this cd is my favorite of all time now...and i doubt that will change anytime soon.

    The CD was great. The first time I listened I hated it, but the more you listen the more you start to appreciate the message and the amazing musical talent. I really liked the CD and have already uploaded it to the ipod and it is in the 25 most played after only 2 weeks. CD is worth the 12 bucks.

    Great stuff. had heard big d a couple years ago from some philly boys in Tahoe, became sort of a regular in the music rotation. This cd knocked my socks off, however it's missing the dance like a jackass and waiting songs from the earlier ep. dicount ho's could be one of the greatest songs ever written, also love don't tango with the freakshow. Well done, big d. hopefully we'll see you live sometime soon, heard it's a blast.

    Nice combo of straight up folk with hip/hop and rap. Funk U is actually the best song on there, but "live from the other side" presents the other side of the album. Don gives a great live show too.

    This CD contains it all!!! Plenty of songs for when you are in party mode, ready to hit the town and equally as many songs that make you contemplate everything from City life and relationships to Kurt Cobain and post Sept. 11 pacifism. But don't think this CD is all deep because some of the funnier songs are intentionally shallow. He also has a genuine self-effacing humor that you just can't help but like him. It is so well rounded that there is something that would appeal to everyone from Gens. Y & X(the majority of the CD) to the Baby Boomers(like Apocalypservice or That Love Card) to those of the Greatest Generation(such as Happy So Happy). In Conclusion, whatever your musical cup of tea is, you will find their influences here from Acoustic to Grunge Rock, from Disco to Hip-Hop, even a New Year's Day Mummers String Band Banjo. All of this neatly wrapped up in a cohesive package that is NOT the least bit discombobulated(sp?). This is one Don who could truly become a DON(both Juan and Corleone....meaning a lover and a fighter) of the musical world. BUY THIS CD!!! I am anxiously waiting for him to come close to where I live to SEE HIM LIVE!!!
