Cornell McCleary for the past 20 years has been a private investigator and is the CEO of Benchmark Investigative Services, Inc. Cornell is certified by the State of Ohio's Peace Officer Training Council (OPOTC) as a expert and Special Subject Instructor in the areas of Surveillance, Patrol of Private Property, Interviewing and Self Defense. Cornell also has OPOTC's Private Police Certification and Firearms Certification.
Cornell's extensive investigative experience includes undercover trademark investigations, major criminal and civil investigations (homicides, rape, arson, white-collar crimes, fraud, personal injury, etc...), and domestic related investigations to include the use of electronic surveillance equipment. Cornell frequently is retained as a security and investigative consultant / specialist by several major public and private enterprises, to include the City of Columbus, Ohio.
Cornell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cornell came to Columbus, Ohio in 1971. He has about 10 years of combined military service having served Honorably in the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army Reserves, The Ohio National Guard and the Ohio Air National Guard. Cornell has a Bachelor of General Studies Degree from Capital University, Bexley, Ohio (concentrations in Aerospace Avionics, Applied Engineering, Business Administration, Law Enforcement and Computer Science), and, two Associate Degrees from the former Columbus Technical Institute (CTI) Columbus, Ohio (an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement Technology, and a Associate of Technical Studies Degree in Electronic Countermeasures / Security).
Other professional training and certifications include: CompTIA A+ Certified Professional Computer Technician; software application certifications for Dreamweaver website development software, FrontPage 2000 website development software, Word 2000, Powerpoint 97, HTML 4, and Access2000 software. Cornell has written and published several special reports and works dealing with various subjects: Can You Keep a Secret?: a handbook on illegal surveillance; Fighting Mad: a citizens view of the drug crisis in Columbus, Ohio; Technological Innovations in Law Enforcement, a report which outlined how the Columbus Division of Police could be modernized with the use of technology; and Urban Criminal Assault Program: reclamation of a community.
Cornell has been a super community and political activist throughout the State of Ohio. He was the former Ohio Republican Party's Statewide Minority Outreach Coordinator, former 1st Vice President of the Ohio Coalition of Concerned Black Citizens, the former Ohio N.A.A.C.P.'s Chairman of Legislative Lobbying Committee, former 1st Vice President of the Columbus, Ohio Chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. and the former Chairman and CEO of Central Ohio's East Central Citizens Organization (ECCO). Cornell is currently a radio talk show host for Clear Channel's 610 WTVN in Columbus, Ohio.
