notes

The a cappella trio Mayim has dazzled audiences throughout the world since 1992. Ariel Thiermann, Jemila Alldis, and Natalie Bridgeman bring a literal lifetime of musical experience to bare on their close-knit harmonies. The stunning precision and blend that these three young women have attained, from singing together for half their lives, will surely take your breath away. "These divas have crafted an intimate repertoire that blurs the boundary between song and singer." (Metro Santa Cruz 2005)

Mayim performs original folk and soul, classical, and sacred music from around the world. These song birds have received acclaim at venues throughout the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas as well as throughout Europe, performing alongside acts such as Compay Segundo of the Buena Vista Social Club and Zap Mama.

The trio began their musical careers together while students at Santa Cruz High. Mayim quickly gained local notoriety performing at First Night Santa Cruz, the Cabrillo Music Festival, and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center.

In 1995, Mayim released a self-titled debut album, and in 2001, they released their second album “Soul Song.” Soul Song received the runner up award for the “Best Folk/Music From Around the World Album” category from the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Association. In 2005, Santa Cruzans flocked to Mayim’s holiday album Sacred Season. Mayim was awarded the Gail Rich Award in 2007.

When not singing with Mayim, Ariel pursues her own solo career as a singer-songwriter in Santa Cruz, having released two highly praised solo albums. Jemila is a realtor in Santa Cruz, while Natalie lives in San Francisco and is an international environmental and human rights lawyer. The music has kept these songbirds close to each other and close to home for over half their lives. They continue to find bliss in their songwriting and performing, to the joy of Santa Cruz audiences.
