notes
This release was inspired by a technical difficulty at a live show.
There were some sound problems so the band went down in the middle of the audience and played totally unplugged.
The CD is unedited from the live studio recording, giving the listener the feeling the band is sitting in their living room with guitars and congas.

Success is acoustic guitar and descriptive lyrics!
author: Alice HodgesOn the jacket, Peter says "Success is moving from failure to failure with renewed enthusiasm." There is no failure here, just upbeat and soothing guitar melodies with lyrics that speak to your heart. Add this acoustic album to your collection and you too will believe..."Sometimes a song can save your life."
Wonderful Surprise!!!
author: Aileen S.I bought this CD solely for "Moonlight Over Paris" but am wonderfully surprised that the other songs are just as enchanting. Great job.
great production, amazing songwriting,beautiful lyrics
author: anthony cusanothe fact that i listened to it three times today and still want to hear it again says it all.each song will take you on a journey and leave you wanting more.spare tire orchestra, india, and moonlight over paris are probably the most moving songs you'll ever hear in your life.as a fellow musician i'd like to say peter has captured what writing music is all about.it's simply a beautiful masterpiece. trust me-buy this disc!
Absofreakinlutely Amazing!
author: Rob BenedictAll I can say is that it takes one hell of an artist to pull off a CD like this and Peter does it PERFECTLY and without flaw! What a concept! This is probably the most original CD I've ever heard. My two favorite songs on this CD are "Spare Tire Orchestra" and "India". "India" is probably my favorite Peter Mayer song and this version takes it to an entirely different level! The end goes into "Teach Your Children", featuring harmonies that are amazing! "The Remains" is a good song to drive to. Don't ask me why. It's just a good song to crank up when driving down a long stretch of highway. This CD CANNOT BE MISSED!! My only complaint about this CD is that it is too short. I would've liked a few more songs. Perhaps a double CD set! Absolutely unique and amazing.
Brilliant Musicianship and a voice as smooth as silk
author: Eric WalkerMan, where to start? I've listened to Peter's music for over 10 years now and his music keeps getting stronger. This acoustic set showcases Peter's virtuosity as a musician and his tenderness and imagination as a lyricist. Highlights are the straight ahead blues rocker "Hair of the Dog" and available for the first time since the first PM effort (no longer in print) "Moonlight Over Paris". If you truly like good music, then to not get this cd is a tragedy.
Earfully and emotinally pleasing and melodic
author: Hunter BellVery pleasing both lyrically and musically. Highly suitable for home, party, and work. Some pieces in fun category as others show remarkable talents. A good cd for anyone outside the rap infested market.
Another beautiful gift from an amazing musician
author: Jenn OsgoodIf you are not familar with the music of Peter Mayer, you will be doing yourself an enormous disservice if you do not immediately purchase this CD. If you do know Peter's music, please add this to your collection as well, because it is another tremendous assortment of songs, stories, and emotions from an extremely talented (not to mention fun) performer. This particular album has the listener rocking during "Hair of the Dog", and then crying tears of understanding to "The Remains" all while forcing you to sing along. The sweet favorite "India" has been remade with the classic CS&N song "Teach Your Children"; I dare you not to call your kids (or parents) after listening to Peter sing these words. In the wise words of Mr. Mayer, "...sometimes its just a smile that makes your day and sometimes a song can save your life."
Buy this CD!
author: Jeanette Gowen (singncaymn)I love anything Peter Mayer and crew have done, but this is excellent - an acoustical cd! I was at one of the two shows that inspired it (Atlanta - The Mill), and this cd brings back memories of a great show, plus new songs I hadn't heard (including the PM songs recut).
Spare Tire Orchestra is great music by great musicians!

classic style music - favorite- India - Peter Mayer's music is a worthwhile inv
author: Mary WernerThe music in this cd is for some soul searching and fun times also. It is always on the cd player at our shop as well as home and is listened to everyday. The music is timeless and classic. Always easy on the ears with words and music that catches your attention whenever it starts to play.
An intimate portrait of one man's gift.
author: Eric WalkerPeter's latest effort is a stripped down campaign of life, love, longing and history. Spare Tire Orchestra really showcases Peter's virtuosity, his gift as lyricist and raw energy when studio tweaking is omitted. This release has everything from the tenderness of the title track to the foot stomping rocker hair of the dog. The biggest treat, however, is hearing one of musics most fluid and beautiful voices--coupled with the fact that the man can move about the fretboard with the littlest effort. If you're like me and are thirsting for truly good music, then spare tire orchestra is exactly what you're cd player needs. Highlights: Spare Tire Orchestra, The Remains, True Life Adventure and Hair of the Dog
