Album Notes

Composer-arranger Ron Ermini studied music at NYU and arranging with ex-Stan Kenton arranger Bob Enos. Comfortable in both the jazz and classical idioms, his trademark is lyricism with an upbeat nature. Pianist Matt Clark progressed rapidly as a pre-teener and later received a degree in Music from Oberlin Conservatory. A true jazz virtuoso, he has played with Bobby Hutcherson, Marcus Shelby, Joshua Redman, and many others. Matt recently left faculty of The Jazz School in Berkeley and headed for New York . A few his fellow musicians’ comments: “Matt’s a genius.” “He’s phenomenal.” “A great, great player. John Shifflet, bass, has performed on countless radio, tv, and studio engagements with Mel Torme, Dionne Warwick, and Dinah Shore and jazz greats Bobby Hutcherson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Taylor Eigsti, to name but a few. He currently teaches bass and small ensembles at San Jose State University. Very popular drummer David Rokeach has appeared on The Tonight Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and Good Morning America, and has performed/recorded with Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, and others. He somehow finds time to teach at the Berkeley Jazz School.
