I had so much fun making this record. I wanted to bring a different energy level this time, some bigger tracks and a little different production approach. I hope with all my heart that you (and your horses) feel the intention and love that went into this music.

There is only one way to experience the music of Mary Ann Kennedy. Just listen to it. There is no format for it. There is no category for it. There is no precedent for it. Mary Ann is the voice for animal lovers everywhere!!

There are very few people in this world whose lives have not been irrevocably changed by a relationship with an animal. This newest release by Mary Ann, "The Rhythm of the Ride" celebrates horses and the animals we love. From her ranch in Tennessee, Mary Ann sees, breathes and feels the strength of nature, the communication between and among horses and animals and converts both to lyrics, music and arrangements with amazing clarity. It captivates the listener.

Mary Ann has 20+ years of traditional success in the country and pop fields. She has worked with Emmy Lou Harris, Sting, Art Garfunkel, Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Restless Heart, LeaAnn Rimes and Pam Tillis, among others. Her first grammy nomination was for her single, "Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands," recorded by Lee Greenwood and Reba. Restless Heart's "I'll Still Be Loving You" earned a second grammy nomination for Mary Ann and co-writers Pam Rose and Pat Bunch.

I came across The Trail Less Traveled at a Horses and Yoga retreat I was leading in Tennessee, and fell in love with her music instantly. She has spunk, clarity, tenderness, and, of course, love.     ...what a natural high!!! As an ex-cop and survivor of trauma, Mary Ann's work has helped my healing move so much faster. Her lyrics and melodies mesh into my days with my horses so easily. "Tennessee" touches me very much, as I own Tennessee Walkers and have seen what the "money-maker owners of the big-licks" do to their horses....disgusting (is politically correct). Mary Ann, you are truly blessed...as I've said before; "keep 'em comin'" and Miigwetch!

    Love it, Love it, Love it. I have been a horse person since I was old enough to know what horses were and have had them all my life. I can't begin to tell you what love they have brought me and I even though I am older still have horses to love on and the music just give's me chills as the words are so meaningful and I understand every song.     Once again,Mary Ann has written songs that grab hold of horse lovers’ hearts. Kennedy has a way of putting what we’ve all felt about our animal companions into words and toe tapping music. Whether, Mary Ann is singing about riding (Rhythm of The Ride, Heart in Your Hands), philosophy (Horses and Life), psychology (Horse Addict) or cruelty (Tennessee), she hits the nail on the head. Although I don’t believe in listening to my MP3 player while riding, her songs would be great to ride to. We played some of her songs during the lunch break at our Horse Show in May and they sounded great coming through the loudspeakers and the riders had lots of fun riding to the music.

    Mary Ann Kennedy's third solo release lives up to its title, thats for sure. Her songwriting skills are excellent. She has a way with words and music that is pretty hard to find elsewhere. Most of the tracks have acoustic arrangements, but from time to time an electric guitar is added as an extra finish. The arrangements suit her vocal style perfectly. All in all a very enjoyable CD. Now if someone knew how to persuade Mary Ann to team up with Pam Rose again for another Kennedy Rose album...!
