Better Than Live - Winner of a 2007 "Rennie" award for Best New Album
This, Marooned's second CD is both a radical departure from , and a return to, their musical roots. While songs like Barrett's Privateers will be familiar to past attendees of "Captain's Song Time", other songs, like the Dutchman and My True Love are not only new, but also carry with them a musical richness and complexity unlike anything Marooned has ever performed.
Don't worry that your favorite song mightn't be on the CD (though it may well be) because assuredly some of your NEW Marooned favorites will be.
"Better Than Live", is a studio album in the best connotation of the word. Marooned, unbound by distance, has brought together a great number of members, past and present, to appear on this album and to make this the "Marooned show you'll never hear on-stage."
All songs and arrangements traditional except:
Hoist the Colours by Elliot, Rossio, Zimmer & Verbinski
Watches by Tom Lewis
My True Love by Melissa Richardson
Fair Maiden's Ghost by Bob Brinkman
The Derelict arranged by Janna McCall Geller & Mallory Geller
Davy Jones (within Double Rounds) by Bob Brinkman
Barrett's Privateers by Stan Rogers
The Dutchman by Bob Brinkman
Cover Art - "My Treasure" by Ryan "Squerk" Allred
Marooned are the proud to have won two "Rennies". The first was in 2006 for Best Music Group and the second in 2007 for their new CD "Better Than Live" in the catagory of Best New Album.

Worth the wait....
author: Daniel DavidsonIt was a long wait for the second album from Marooned, but the album was well worth it! The Harmonies on “Double Rounds/On We Go” are fantastic, and a pleasure to listen too. “Hoist the Colours” was a pleasant surprise. It has all three verses (that’s two more than the Disney Sound track for Pirates III has…), and was very well done. I was a little disappointed by the version of “Cuckoo's Nest”, it didn’t have the normal bounce to it that I expect from the song. But that was more than offset by the rest of the CD. If you like Sea Songs and Faire music, this is the CD to get.
Great Album
author: Gregory EngelIf you are looking for some really great music this is the one to grab. This album is a wonderful mix of high paced and slow haunting melodies that grab you. Get it, play it and enjoy.
