About the CD, EMOTIONS- for ages 2 to 10 years

EMOTIONS is the creation of a professional sound recording uniting some of Canada's and Vancouver's finest musicians. This sound recording is for pre-school and school aged children, ranging from years two to ten. The content of this magical sound recording is based on twenty songs, articulating twenty different emotions experienced by all ages.

Some of Canada’s finest musicians are featured on the EMOTIONS CD such as pianist Bill Sample (performances with Celine Dion, Paul Anka, Oscar Peterson), guitarist Michael Friedman (performances with Randy Bachman, Don Ross, Spirit of the West, Jane Siberry), performers from Vancouver’s Bach Children’s Chorus and Juno Award winner Steve Dawson (2004 Contemporary Jazz Album, 2003 Roots Traditional Group Album).

Through a musical enriching and interactive experience, the young child is lead on a journey through the realms of human emotion. The child is able to identify with the script of the characters in-between songs, since they are child actors, as well as connect with the music. The songs are simple and fun!

This CD is for enjoyment, mental health education & developing the emotional intelligence of the child. It can be used for ESL, therapy or pure music appreciation!

The EMOTIONS Book & CD comes to you summer 2007! It's here! Get ready as MARLA TOURS ACROSS CANADA this summer with EMOTIONS The Interactive Puppet Show & Concert. Details available at http://www.emotionsbook.com/gigs.htm

"A refreshing down to earth collection of 20 songs that illuminates our emotions in a kid-friendly way. The addition of children to introduce the songs and transitions works very well." John Wood, Kidzmusic.com.

Hi Marla! You were just in Salmo, BC and I wanted to let you know that I thought your show was great! I loved the quick pace of it. Our audience was only 25 but I thought it was a good size for interacting with the kids. Once again thanks for coming by.

I was really, really impressed with Emotions - on the musical level. A lot of genres and influences mixed in just right. Well, I liked it so much that I'm featuring it as a Best of the Batch on the Mi2N.com homepage - the first time we ever featured a children's CD.

It's really the only thing of it's kind. I bought it for my daugther going through the terrible twos. She doesn't understand it yet but I think in time it will help her become more emotionally intelligent. Good work!

    author: Marla Rosen

In many educational environments, the importance of self-expression through the arts is not valued as much as math or sciences. However, the denial of these aspects of the personality or the lack of recognition for their importance within an educational setting can often lead to reduced senses of confidence and the inability to communicate effectively. This is one of the main reasons, I wrote twenty songs on emotions, titling my CD for children “Emotions”, which gives the child and teacher or parent an enjoyable approach into defining, clarifying and recognizing the nature of how we as humans feel. It is my hope that through music (which some of Canada’s finest musicians have participated on this CD), each individual can connect and utilize this CD as a learning tool to discover more about their emotions.

Aside from great tunes, her latest CD, "EMOTIONS", provides kids with an enjoyable approach to communicating feelings, from happy to sad to fearful and silly. She credits her talent, not only as a musician, but also as an actor, director, dancer, puppeteer and educator for her ability to successfully develop creative and expressive educational programs for children across Canada.

  • You have excellent interactions with children!

All the guests enjoyed your music, and lively performance. You are certainly very talented in your field.

  • Children were captivated!
author: False Creek Community Centre, Vancouver BC

Dear Marla: I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for providing quality entertainment for our Halloween Carnival. The children were captivated by your performance, energy, characters and skills with regard to your puppets. Emotions are a difficult subject for children to learn yet a performance based environment as the one you provided creates an opportunity for the learning to happen through play. Parents in the audience appreciated your performance for its’ positive content. Thank you, again, for providing our family carnival with entertainment of an appropriate and nurturing nature. Sincerely, Sandy Ferrin, Recreation Programmer, False Creek Community Centre.
