Singer/songwriter Mark Weigle has released his third CD, "Out of the Loop", which promises to be as highly acclaimed as it's predecessors.

Weigle says that stylistically, the new disc is a cross between the folk/county of his first CD, "The Truth Is", and its more pop-oriented follow-up, "All That Matters".

"There are still grooves on this one, but not as much electric guitar, and some more of the country flavor. Then again, there's also a pumping dance track, so go figure!"

The dance track, titled "Love Your Body Like It Is", deals with gay men's obsession with body image and is indeed a departure from Weigle's pop/folk/country style.

"I wanted to express the message in the language of the guys who it's aimed at- primarily the circuit guys- let's not call them "boys". It's pretty obvious there's a desperation among a lot of gay men to stay young and pretty and up all night at any cost."

"Out of the Loop", also features a duet with the late gay music pioneer Steven Grossman, on Grossman's song "Out".

Says Weigle: "Steven should be recognized as much as Sylvester. He released a very out, gay record on Mercury in 1974, when folk music was topping the charts."

Other gay-themed songs on the CD include big boy anthem "Bears", and "I Remember", about a gay, HIV+ man who has survived the loss of his partner and many friends to AIDS, and is now contemplating his future- "A life I never thought I'd see".

Weigle's previous two CDs of original material have each been 'CD of the Year' on Outvoice.com ('99, '00), and have each made Audiofile's 'Top 5 Best CDs of the Year' on This Way Out radio ('99, '00).

His last release, "All That Matters", was ranked among the 'Top 10 Best CDs of 2000' by Billboard Magazine's Talent Editor Larry Flick, in Billboard's 'Critic's Choice' issue.

Flick also named Weigle's "A Good Day", 'Unsigned Artist Record of the Year' in Billboard.

We should all send a copy of this CD to every ex, every partner that rejected us, because our personal attributes weren't perfect enough. You tell Mark, "Love you body like it is!" I cried over "I remember and sent this CD to my friends who experience the same. It's hard to believe we get love and healing all from these songs. There are bears in Arkansas, Mark, I just haven't met any gay ones! I will never be able to hear "Wish you were" without remember how hard it is to be far away from my loved ones. What a wonderful album. Send it to all you friend!

  • Great to hear GOOD "out" stuff
    author: Hugh Silcox

So refreshing to hear good tunes and lyrics from an out Gay man. Absolutely no shame, no coyness, no oblique lyrics ... just unabashed songs about love and lust between men. Nice variety between "country" and more mainstream styles. Thanks for the nod to bears, as well! Rock on, brother!

  • Great stuff

  • Fantastic! No Gay Man Should Miss This!
    author: Paul D. Cain

If you're a gay man, you may have difficulty finding music that speaks to your life and your experiences. If so, Mark Weigle is the guy for you. He doesn't seem to miss, and his musicianship is excellent (spoken by a former Music major). Particular standouts on this CD include In the Last 5 Minutes, Bears (woof!), and Love Your Body Like It Is, which ought to become an anthem for all gay men to reprioritize their lives toward expressing their inner beauty. Thanks, Mark! With love and appreciation, Paul D. Cain, author of Leading the Parade: Conversations with America's Most Influential Lesbians and Gay Men

  • What a Voice!!!
    author: Jen

Heard Mark Wiegle's song, "I Remember" on Queer Stock/Queer Soup and thought he had a wonderful voice. This CD is really great. Aside from the aformentioned song, I also really like: "Wish You were Here", "In the Last Five Minutes". Highly Reccomended!!!

  • Gay By Nature, Fabulous By Choice

I picked this cd up at Phoenix Pride 2004, after seeing Mark perform. This cd is awesome, finally I can hear songs written to men by another man. My favorite song is "Out" a duet with Steven Grossman. It reminds me of my own coming out. Other great songs are "I Remember","Wish You Were Here", and "Us Both". I was lucky enough to meet Mark after buying his cd, I admit I was a little starstruck, not mention he is hot as hell! He was so humble and gracious(did I Spell That Right?)...Mark Weigle truly is Gay By Nature, Fabulous By Choice...I look forward to seeing him perform in the future...who knows maybe even headline Phoenix Pride

What a great CD, touching on aspects of Gay life through music. As an AARP-aged gent, I especially appreciated the final song. CAn't wait to get the rest of his CD's and hope to see him live.

  • Thank you Mark!
    author: MCBearcub

First of all I have to say, THANK YOU MARK! You have made me have a whole new respect for Folk/Country Music. I listen to a wide variety of music. Country has been part of that variety, but never to the extent that it is since my HusBear found and downloaded “In the Last Five Minutes” and “Bears” from the net a few months back. We loved both songs! I finally got the chance to do a search, and found your website and the links to purchase your CD’s. After purchasing and listening to this album, I’m looking forward to purchasing the rest of your albums! I have already purchased a second copy of this album for a friend! Please keep composing! I’m looking forward to your next album! Sincerely, Another Bear Loving Bearcub, And Fan, MCBearcub P.S. You are a VERY handsome man! Daniel is a lucky bear! WOOF WOOF

  • Worth your time to listen to this man
    author: Rangertcloud

I found his music quite by error but hearing it prompted me to buy his alblums and i have to say I am not disapointed. I drove to Sacramento to see him in a CD release party and he made everyone there feel special. Having lost a mate recently several of his songs are touching and sad. but there are many more just as fun. Mark ...your songs lightened my day

  • This is why I like Mark Weigle's music.
    author: Richard Wilde

I've like this guy ever since I was smitten with "Two Cowboy Waltz". Mark's third CD picks up the pace with upbeat yet heartfelt words and music. "Bears" is better than the Lyle Lovett version (sorry, Lyle). I especially like "In The Last 5 Minutes", "Blue Eyes to Brown Eyes" and "Cody". "Love Your Body Like It Is" is terrific for a "message" song and it's even danceable. The whole thing is just plain good. A little country, a little rock and roll, a little heart and lots of soul.
