Mark Weigle's 2nd release, 'All That Matters' finds him growing in a more contemporary, pop direction, while still keeping his roots firmly planted in the folk/country of his first disc, 'The Truth Is'.

Lyrically, Weigle continues to tell engaging stories that explore gay life experience, from the sexy, morning-after romp, "A Good Day", (Billboard Magazine's 'Unsigned Record of the Year')to the title track, told from the perspective of an elderly gay man who's just lost his lover of many years, who finally finds the courage to tell the truth in order to honor their relationship.

"John" is a poignant look at a married man's first experience with another man, set in an adult bookstore booth. While the story is told in a straighforward manner, it is not mined for laughs, nor shock value, but instead expresses the emotional upheaval of a man finding his true self at last, and facing the consequences.

Reviews and Quotes: Billboard Magazine Critics Choice, Larry Flick, Talent Editor: Top 10 of 2000. "Folk music with a gooey, irresistable pop center". "Although Weigle doesn't supress his inclination to express and explore the life experiences of an out gay man,...'All That Matters' helps the queer movement by proving that we're not stuck on one isolating theme."

Margaret Coble, Southern Voice (syndicated) "Weigle's biggest gift, beyond his smooth baritone voice and impeccable production skills, is his ability to broach out-gay topics honestly without being militant. Overall, 'All That Matters' is a superb follow-up album that shows Weigle growing and evolving, without losing what has made his work so special."

Bob Steele, Baltimore Gay Paper (syndicated) "At the core of Weigle's art is deeply felt emotion expressed in direct and simple language. By being as true as he can to the joy and pain of our experience, Weigle helps heal our souls as he succeeds in making art that resonates for the mainstream."

Outvoice.com CD of the Year, This Way Out Best of 2000.

Not only do a have a couple copies of this CD for my home and studio but I have given it as gifts and recommended it many times...and received with rave reviews. I am humbly a fan. These are lyrics which we can all relate to and this is an artist which connects with his audience even through a CD. This is a must own CD for any gay man.

Seems like Mark reminds us that love and honesty are what it is all about. "All of you" make me weak in the knees. Without love I guess we are all just resumes, Nice to have a love song that I can believe in.

  • Enjoyed This CD

I am extremely pleased with this CD. I now have 4 CD's by Mark and all of them are in my CD player in the car. I will be purchasing the remander of Mark's work in the future and I recommend this CD and the rest to all that love great music.

  • Awesome!
    author: tommyboy

This is another of Mark's CDs that I really loved; Mark's voice is so mellow - and romantic.

While not as country-based as his first CD (THE TRUTH IS), this work offers the listener an opportunity to appreciate Mr. Weigle's musical craftmanship. Most of the songs are ballads and it is quite easy to forget the sometimes blistering subject matter and get lost in the overall production values of the recording; kudos to his engineer!

  • Mark Weigle is my favorite singer!

my 1st time hearing Mark Weigle won't be my last. Mark's voice wraps itself around you and draws you in. The lyrics are intelligent and Mark's guitar playing is nothing short of brilliant. I was intensely satisfied with this cd and can't wait to purchase another. Satisfy your soul and spirit by supporting this incredible independent artist.

  • I'm addicted to this CD
    author: John Day

I discovered this CD after falling head over heels for his cover CD, "Different and the Same". This CD shows Mark's talent for capturing complex gay issues that we all know so well and putting them into tender, poignant packages. These songs endure. My faves: "I Confess", "The Truth Is", "Good Day" and "As It Turns Out". They are all gems, though.

  • CD exactly what I was looking for
    author: Aaron B.

This CD was exactly what I was looking for. Mark's voice is deep and sensitive and you can definitely tell he is writing from the heart. Thanks Mark for saying what others are afraid to.
