notes

Hi Everyone! My new solo piano cd will be released this fall and I will be giving a series of concerts to introduce the cd....Track #11 "OCTOBER WAVES" was composed when I was on a sailboat for the very first time. The waves were a few feet high and too me it looked like we were floating up and down on a endless piece of silk blowing in the fall wind. I was surprisingly calm and in rhythm with the waves. Suddenly a storm hit and we had to make an emergency landing to shore. Luckily the person I was with on the boat knew how to handle the situation. It was a great adventure to be on this boat and confront a storm like this and then land safely to shore. That was some day in October. Mark was just named Artist of the Month for May 2008 on the Canadian New Age Instrumental Satellite Radio network.

THIS CD WAS JUST CHOSEN AS #2 ON THE TOP TEN ALBUMS LIST FOR NOVEMBER 2007 ON CANADIAN INSTRUMENTAL/ NEW AGE RADIO. SLOWLY THE DAY GOES BY (TOTAL TIME OF CD:(73:53) WAS ALSO SELECTED AS THE #1 NEW AGE CD ON CBC GALAXIE RADIO FOR FEBUARY 2007 LISTED ON THE NEW AGE REPORTER'S CHART. This Cd was performed on a beautiful Grand Steinway acoustic piano in front of sold out audiences at La Place des Arts in Montreal, Canada.
"The sound and production of the album is as remarkable as the playing. Another gorgeous string of pearls from the delicate hands of Mark Pinkus. His solo music outshines most others because the songs are so creative and listenable." Renee Gelpi, Galaxie CBC Satellite Radio Toronto, Canada.
"Very nice CD. It''s definately as good as any Windham Hill music. Just goes to show how much talent this city has." Mark Tremblay, Entertainment Editor, Montreal Gazette.

"I really enjoyed your album, and your music is very interesting. A refreshing listen!" David Nevue, Host/Producer of Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, USA.
The music on SLOWLY THE DAY GOES BY reflects the beauty and mysteries of nature, love and relationships, dreams, moods, travel and the quest for peace and tranquility.  Mark’s compositions are like sound paintings, creating picturesque images that take the listener’s imagination on a journey.  From one piece to the next, there is a totally different and unique story to be told and unraveled.

Mark's secret is allowing the listener to discover on a personal and intimate level, what the music is all about.  Mark uses the entire spectrum of the piano to express the intensity and lightness of his compositions.

Mark Pinkus was born on the anniversary of Beethoven’s death. At the age of 7 Mark began composing music on his yellow acoustic piano. His first composition came to him while he was looking out his living room window, watching a black cat balancing on the window ledge as a rainstorm approached.

"Slowing down the pace of the day is not an easy thing to do in this very fast moving world we all live in. Even slowing down just for a few moments can be a challenge. I sincerely hope that this CD helps get you in touch with that place inside you that makes you realize just how precious slowing down the pace of our day can be. Cherish these moments and carry the experience within you wherever you are. Have a wonderful musical journey and please let me know how it was for you." Mark Pinkus NAMASTE, and I WISH YOU A WONDERFUL DAY (OR NIGHT!) Mark Pinkus

  • Slowly the Day Goes By

As a retired woman in vibrant Taos, NM music is always a part of my life. Our satellite radio is tuned to a new age station. Occasionally, I found myself pausing in the TV room to hear a a piece by a then unknown to me Mark Pinkus called "A Taste of the Show." As I grew to love it, I began a search to find the album and the piece. CD Baby (also a wonderful online find)had the album with the piece I so relished to own. Perhaps not so surprisingly, the Canadian Mark Pinkus wowed me with his one of many CD's. As a poet/painter, I began to realize that Mark creates an amazing story with his piano expertise. I am so moved by his work that I plan to order more of his music soon (from CD Baby, of course). Mark's piano style is a blend of classic mastery and contemporary experiment. My ears are truly moved.

Slowly the Day Goes By is a wonderful blend of piano music, peace and joy. It is perfect in the background to work to without being invasive, yet is equally wonderful to just sit down and focus on when life gets too hectic. This is my introduction to Mark's original music and I look forward to more.

  • Live strength and sensitivity
    author: Estelle Servanin

Another beautiful recording by Mark pinkus, this one is live. It brings to those sensitive melodies the masterful performance experience of the pianist. "Slowly the day goes by" tells of infinite and intimate spaces simply with the keys of a piano. In his signature style of unlikely mix of strength and sensitivity Mark Pinkus is pleasing his fans again.
