notes

Since 2002, there has been a growing buzz in Spokane, Washington focusing on rising singer-songwriter, Mark Allen, a rapidly developing artist still in his early teens. Mark crafts songs that stay with audiences long after leaving a show. His charming mannerisms, natural style, and awe-inspiring voice have unified him with a continuously growing fan base.

At age 15, Mark Allen has the ability to create cultivated songs with inspiring lyrics and melodies that whisper to the heart. He writes every day, turning teen angst and emotion into song. He loves to play guitar and has written songs that combine both his vocal and guitar talents. Currently, he is writing new material for his full CD, which will feature songs with music and words written by Mark. He loves to be a part of the writing. “These are the songs that I will be singing forever, contributing to writing helps me to be more familiar with my songs.”

His love for his fans is immense. He views each person as a friend on or off the stage. He carries a conversation like he has known you for years, often making people check twice that they are indeed talking to someone who is 15, not 25. He has that same effect on the stage, convincing people with a voice beyond his years that he is older than he really is.
“I love every person who comes to watch me perform. Without fans, there would be no reason to do what I’m doing. It’s amazing how much support comes from each one of them, they’re like family!”

Even in his toddler years, Mark would run around singing anything that he knew the words to, or didn’t know the words to, it didn’t matter. Mark developed a love for music before he was walking, and he still carries that love with him. He is currently taking school classes at home, enabling him to perform and pursue his music career. When asked why he chooses to pursue a career at such a young age he says, “I’ve been doing this all my life and it’s what I love to do. I can’t find myself without music.”

Mark was first trained classically by voice teacher Steve Mortier. After a year, he came across famed vocal coach Jennifer Stott Madsen, and from there he began to work on his pop sound. She encouraged him to write and he soon found his songwriting skills and sound, developing an over four octave range. After four years of training, Mark has produced the warm, intimate voice that fans love and hear on stage. Finding his niche in a Pop/Rock sound, Mark blows away audiences with his strong vocals and emotional depth.

With much encouragement from his vocal and performance coach, Jennifer Stott Madsen, Mark was introduced to Nashville producer Randel Kartchner. Randy immediately saw the potential inside this young recording artist and brought two songs to the table that would later be turned into the single; “If That’s How It Feels” released October 15, 2005. Fans fell in love with the CD immediately, which makes it hard for them to wait patiently for the release of his full debut album.
