Mark-Anthony Abel is bringing to you his fantastic debut EP release ‘In Vain’.
Inspired by the emotional response Mark himself has received from the world around him, he searches for the stimulation to create music that is both truthful and beautiful. A mature vision of love, enduring and positive, shines through.
With his musical career beginning in Pseudo Punk; Mark has evolved into a true singer/songwriter working the UK circuit with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jamie Scott.
With passion and flair, Mark-Anthony Abel stands out from the crowd. Already drawing comparisons to Eagle Eye Cherry and Seal, with a rich and expressive voice, he will have you engaged. Influenced by the poetry of Christopher Marlowe, Mark-Anthony releases a creative feel and intelligence that is often missed in modern pop music.

Hmmm, NICE!! Right from the opening bars, 'In Vain' cries quality and commercialism. Mark-Anthony Abel reminds me of Seal in his approach to 'proper' British music; there's an eloquence and elegance to Mark-Anthony's work that feels well honed and worldly wise. But this guy isn't Seal re-incarnate. No way, Mark-Anthony is a different thing altogether and very much his own man.
The Title track, 'In Vain' has a radio-friendliness about it - I can see quite a few stations taking a close look at this guy (if they're allowed to!). And so the story continues with 'I Might Let You Down', 'More Than This' and 'Take My Hand'.
Mark-Anthony has an effortless and slick vocal style with just enough huskiness to make a difference. His songs are generally on the concise side but with sufficient time to allow the message to be heard and understood. Mark-Anthony has something quite special - both as a writer and performer!
Nothing here sounds over-done, over-cooked or in the slightest bit contrived. The production is empathetically smooth and slick, there's no big shocks, nothing to dislike, nothing to batter the senses. All four tracks on 'In Vain' sound bright and optimistic; Mark-Anthony's lyrics don't seem to dwell too much on gloom and despair, rather on positivity through experience and reasoned questioning. And, just like his words, I can see a justifiably bright future for this likeable wordsmith and musician. One to watch out for methinks!

Mark-Anthony Abel creates alternative pop music with a good sense of melody and invention. Lead track ‘In Vain’ shows off his talents to the greatest degree. Combining accessible electronics with memorable hooks in both the vocals and in the guitar line. The other tracks aren’t quite up to the same standards but this is a very promising debut that suggests there can only be better things to come! I look forward to hearing more from this guy!

Mark-Anthony Abel is a new up and coming singer/songwriter who has performed with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jamie Scott among others. He originally began his musical career in pseudo punk but has since refined his sound into a soulful modern pop sound that incorporates piano and strummed guitarhelping to deliver his mature vision.
In Vain is Mark-Anthony's debut single, it works as a fairly impressive introduction to his expressive and rich sound, his vocals are soulful and yet still have that rough and weathered edge that helps deliver believable emotion. There are loads of singers out there with soulful voices but few actually convey real emotion and Mark-Anthony manages to do this with his less than perfect croon. Mark-Anthony Abel floods his music with rare vulnerability which makes his music truly touching nad it's easy to get caught up in his emotional vision.
The other tracks on here are more of the same, each one is delivered with heartfelt passion and his vocals seem to ache and brood on each of these beautiful musical nuggets. The final track on here, Take My Hand is perhasp the highlight as there's an orchestral feel to the song as strings joint the already potent mix of guitar and piano whilst Mark-Anthony delivers another engaging vocal.

Stunning performer
author: CassiopheiaThe best of the acts I saw lately. His music is going straight to your heart and you will not forget the great sound... I was already on many gigs and have to say that i think i became addicted :) Mark-Anthony Abel is a great performer who is giving his heart and getting love in return... Love it!!!
