Russian-born and Los Angeles-based Marina V is an intriguing Adult Alternative singer/pianist/songwriter with an incredible life story. Marina's music is a magical blend of her angelic voice, hooky melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and fresh chord progressions, which make this new artist truly special.
Influenced by the Beatles and Tchaikovsky, Marina's music style has been described as an unusual mix of Tori Amos, Jewel & Paul McCartney, but "with her unique phrasing, breathless, smoky-sweet and compelling vocals, she's got a sound all her own" (Artists Studio Magazine).
Her concerts are a must see. Full of raw talent, Marina's emotionally intense live performances are breathtaking and electrifying, with her hypnotic voice reaching out to every single person in the audience. Having relentlessly performed across the USA, the green-eyed songstress has created quite a buzz, effortlessly connecting to her fans through her unique but accessible music and through her eccentric but very charming personality.
Over the past couple of years, Marina has received plenty of spotlight from numerous print and online publications. She was recently featured in Keyboard Magazine, which called her "one of the most promising singer/songwriters of the year". She has also been named as one of the HOT 100 UNSIGNED Artists by Music Connection Magazine and is a proud recipient of the ASCAP popular award two years in a row.
Marina's songs can be heard on MTV (the Real World), films and radio stations such as XM Satellite Radio. The twenty-five year-old chanteuse is officially endorsed by AUDIX microphones, PEAVEY products and YAMAHA digital pianos.
Teaming up with co-writer Nick Baker & bringing in legendary producer, Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon, etc), Marina has recently released her new album, "Simple Magic." I can recall hearing Marina V's hauntingly beautiful voice in various commercial spots and MTV's "The Real World" but never knew the actual name of the artist. The mystery continued until I came across Marina V's MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/marinav After listening to a few of her beautiful songs that are showcased on the page, I knew I had to have this CD. The songs are reel you in with it's melodies and beautifully written hooks. The voice, the music, and the way she crafts each song is mesmerizing. "Simple Magic" is pure magic. I had the pleasure of seeing Marina V perform live to a full house at a coffee house. The setting was very intimate yet once Marina took the stage, she captivated the audience with her powerful voice and presence. Marina V is the real deal! When a singer/songwriter is able to capture your spirit, then you realize that something special just happened. Pure magic. I highly recommend this CD. Thank you, Marina!

One might just take a step back when you hear what kind of music influences this girl. The Beatles? Tchaikovsky? What would that get you? If you close your eyes and just listen, you'll hear it. It's quite a thing. It's a mixture that will take you to places, invite emotions, and you'll think about things that maybe, just maybe you weren't expecting. Not from this girl. You didn't expect all this from such a small framed girl with- - when speaking, a Russian accent? Yes! Her background is surprisingly fresh and her music, (influences aside) very original, and very entertaining. My favorite song, I'll be alright. ~check it out!~

I never heard anything so beautiful in long time. I wish I lived in LA cause I would go to all her shows all the time, And promote the work she does so well. Marina is Simple Magic

That was the first time I heard Marina perform and I have been in love with her music ever since. The best thing I can say about Simple Magic is there is not a song that I don’t enjoy. Unlike many other artists today who put two or three really good songs on a CD then fill the rest of the CD with inferior material, Simple Magic is truly enjoyable. “Guardian Angel” is a haunting and sensual song that penetrates and touches one’s very soul. This is one artist that you will want to have in your CD collection, so when she pick up her Grammy, you can tell your friends, I’ve been listening to her music for years.

"Simple Magic" allows the listener to capture a bit of that at home, in the car, or at the office. I have to admit that I have weakness for her songs sung in Russian. If you have never thought of Russian as a beautiful language, listen to "Pesnya O Tebe." I believe you'll change your mind. Marina is a very warm person, and "Simple Magic" is a musical hug.

Those are just two examples; all the songs on this CD will move you to your core and evoke every emotion within you, dark and light. The Best CD You'll Find

Marina is definitely talented and her voice is one of a kind, her songs are emotional and heartfelt. Songs I loved were Guardian Angel (sad song, but it truly just pulls you in when you hear it. The piano is really beautiful in this one), Underneath Your Sky (I love love songs, and this very much is one), and Ghost Wandering This Earth (I love the lyrics. The songs are fleshed out (longer than they've been in the past); the melodies and lyrics are strong; and her soulful voice is right on.
