"A sweet and beautiful voice" ~ Music Connection
"An incredible live performer!" ~ Chicago-Music-Scene.com
"Her piano-based pop is melodic and unique" ~ Onstage Magazine
"As is her life history, Something of My Own is a bittersweet masterpiece" ~ Vteens.org
"Her classical training serves her musicianship well, lending it a timeless quality and ethereal beauty, while the emotion she pours into her singing transcends the ordinary" ~ Las Vegas City Life
"with her unique phrasing, breathless, smoky-sweet and compelling vocals, she's got a sound all her own" ~ Artists Studio Magazine
"one of the best artists I have had the pleasure to hear in a long time." ~ Indie-Music.com
"This isn't your average CD. It is sophisticated while speaking to you with lyrical pictures" ~ GirlPosse.com
"Marina's ability to combine the lyricism of the singer-songwriter with the vocal edge of the arena rocker results in a potent blend guaranteed to hold your attention" ~ Artist Relations, AUDIX
"Russian princess of the mic with a great groove" ~ the Global Muse.com
"the passion Marina feels for music comes through loud & clear" ~ L.A. Times
"Her strength is the melodic progressions of her songs, both simple yet still sounding fresh... An excellent new writer and talent!" ~ Brian Whitney, JPFolks.com founder
"Marina's story reads like the biography of a 1970s James Bond villainess. Born in Russia to a communist/nuclear physicist, she grew up studying martial arts, skiing, computers, skateboarding and, of course, playing music. She came to the States alone as a teenager to study languages, business and politics, meanwhile enjoying stints as a model, translator, and an athlete on a women's hockey team. Perhaps this unique background has guided Marina in the evolution of her intriguing style and sound." ~ ChicagoGigs.com
"she has the drive, ambition, talent and the looks to make it work" ~ Rock Hard Place
"The title track ["Something of My Own"] by itself is so frighteningly entrancing, the rest of the disc could be blank and still make this list [Tim Cain's Top 20 Albums of 2002]. Fortunately, there's much more, including some whimsy mixed in with the ballads, and the Russian-language version of the title song. The Illinois College graduate, now based in Los Angeles, continues to grow as a songwriter. She's overdue for her break." ~ Decatur Herald & Review

Wonderful CD
author: Karen LangefeldBeautiful! I'm so glad I got this CD. Her songs are haunting and beautifully written. Just Another Sunday is such a chilling and sad song. Buy it! You will love this CD.
Silky Voice - Beauiful!
author: bradley SpurrThe album sounds great - nice arrangements, beautiful vocals, solid song writing, very professional. Good to listen to while stuck in traffic on the 101!
so many emotions
author: PaulIt's amazing how many emotions are brought out in Marina's music. She'll take you somewhere with one song, like the despair of "Killing My Dream," and before you have a chance to recover, you're going somewhere else, like the longing of "Ocean." The last track may become a modern Chrismas classic.
I sing along to every song, I love it!
author: LenaI love the simple presentation of very intimate topics and expressive vocals. I sing along to every song, yes, even the russian ones. Can't wait to see Marina in concert!
Awesome!
author: MasonSomething of My Own is one of the best CDs I have purchased in the past few years, and has become one of my most frequently listened to CDs period. Marina's music far outshines that of many of her better known contemporaries. I urge you to pick it up--you won't be disappointed!

I recieved my copy of "something of my own" earlier last week. It hasn't come out of my cd player yet. I think my favorite so far is "Killing My Dream". Like I said, you're singing for me. Someone has to, I sure can't! =) Anyway, I'm a huge believer in supporting talent. And it's talent you are brimming with.
Soundtrack to my life

Something very personal, something of herself to share from the deepest places i
author: Jimi YamagishiDark, emotional, & well crafted, “haunting” is the perfect word to describe this latest collection of songs from Marina V. Powerful piano work & rich harmonies provide the perfect background to a candlelit evening steeped in reflection and introspection.
- author: Trixie
The production is delightfully understated, allowing her talents as a musician to shine through. I'm a huge fan of classical piano, so I really wanted to like this CD just reading her bio. I wasn't disappointed. But I was surprised by how moving the songs were. This isn't your average CD. It is sophisticated while speaking to you with lyrical pictures.
AWESOME!
author: ChristinaWhen I got this cd I couldnt stop listening to it! Not only is it diffrent then alot of those other CDs out there, But i can relate to alot of the songs on this CD, when Im feeling down I can just put the CD in and listen to it all day long and it puts me into a better mood. If you were to go and get any new artist CD I think this would be it!

Marina should have a permanent place in any CD collection. One of the best and most talented new vocalists and songwriters to come along in years, her music and lyrics are a powerful blend of melody and emotion. Add to that a wonderful voice (and very sexy Russian accent) and you have a truly winning combination. There are no weak points on this CD. Each song is riveting and each portrays an enjoyable exploration that Marina makes of her music and, I think, of herself.
Fantastic
author: A music fanBoth this and Marina's previous album (LIFT) are strong and haunting. The melodies continue to play in your head throughout the week and you never tire of any of the songs. Highly recommended!
Powerful
author: DrewI am really enjoying your albums and you have inspired me yet one step further towards my own dreams. Your CD's are getting wear and tear--especially the new one.
After listening to just one of Marina's songs you'll be hooked.
author: Nicole (crazyangelgurl)After hearing Marina perform at my work I instantly fell in love with her beautiful music and purchased "Something of My Own" that night on cdbaby.com "Something of My Own"(the song) is a wonderful title track and "Ocean" is a beautifully written and sounding song, just like every song of Marina's is. You just have to check out this upcoming artist and her wonderful music.
BEAUTIFUL
author: James P."Something of My Own" is a beautiful CD. Marina's voice is mesmerizing, soothing & angelic, especially on songs like "Ocean" and "On This Christmas Night". Every song is filled with a passion that is hard to find in most new artists today. I love every song on this album & recommend it to people of all walks of life.
One of the best CDs I've purchased in a year.
author: Master ChiefThis is one of the best CDs I have purchased in the past year. Every song is filled with such emotion, but in no way is it over-the-top. "Something of My Own" (the song) is a perfect opening to this record. "Killing My Dream" is also a song that I could easily see reaching the top of the charts. Whoever said that Marina is one of the most promising new artists hit the nail right on the head.
- author: Giancarlo, Roma, Italy
I've bought your 2 CD's: "Lift" and "Something Of My Own". Your music is simply fantastic. Your songs caress the heart. Mine, at least.
