notes

The Mantras is a Greensboro, NC based band that consists of Keith Allen- vox, guitar ; Marcus Horth- vox, guitar ; Brian Tyndall- bass, bkgrd vox ; Brent Vaughn- aux percussion, bkgrd vox ; Justin Loew- drum set.
Recent winners of the 336events.com Battle of the Bands, The Mantras do their best to imaginatively and coherently mix as many genres of music as they can. Going on four years now, Horth, Tyndall, and Allen have been writing and performing together. Within their music you will hear influences ranging from jazz, and blues; to funk, and jam rock; to classic rock, and reggae. They feel that lines between genres of music can be made translucent and therefore transcend the confines of labels. The addition of Loew, and Vaughn to the group in 2006 has brought more force, intensity and rhythmic possibilities than the core three had previously anticipated.
They have been fortunate enough to share the stage with bands such as The Bridge, Addison Groove Project, Perpetual Groove, Brock Butler(of P-Groove), Moonshine Still, Jaafar, Jeff Sype, Loop, Mother’s Finest, Mood Cultivation Project,
Mission Statement:
Music is a form of meditation. As a group, our goal is to deliver the quality in music that makes people feel moved. We believe in the healing powers of music, as well as the meaning of talent and sobriety. Music has the power to move people in astonishing ways, and watching our music move others instills within us a sense of accomplishment. We strive for our music to become our lives, because it already consumes them.
