Progressive Bass
author: Paul CarrMichael Manring always pushes the boundaries of what a bass can do and this is no exception. Using sounds, tuning and basses you are unlikely to hear elsewhere, this album offers a different feel to his other albums showing that music and the bass guitar can progress and offer something new.
Another masterpiece
author: PrasiddhaOnce again, Michael Manring has come out with a masterpiece bass album. From the crunching intro to The Fire Sermon, all the way to The Book Of Living And Dying, the album is pure perfection. This album is slightly darker than Thonk. Although the humor is still there, I find this album to be more 'dark ambient' than the outgoing Thonk.

author: ConradThe opener starts off with that powerful Zon growl than Manthing does so well. And after that what can only be described as apparent chaos ensues! The tracks featuring backing musicians demonstrate Michael's compositional and grooving abilities, but his solo pieces just go to another level. So many people take the bass solo as a show of technique, but Manring manages to add in a lot of melody to his solo pieces as well. Theres truly no bassist like Manthing!
Manthing... Major Understatement!
