one of the greatest new piano trio's around today
author: chief jazz hossThis record really blew my mind. These guys play with dedication, spirit, swing, drive and above all else, love. You can hear and feel it when you put this disc on. I can't believe this is Mr. Manasia's first CD! A friend recommended that I buy it and I'm grateful that I did. The originals are super fresh and interesting while the standards are given beautiful renderings. The sound of the recording is amazing: you feel like you're in the same room with the band! I have a feeling this album will become a jazz classic.
precise playing
author: Jennifer 9843Wichery is stellar. Precise playing illuminates the new york night life. People are in need of new and talented artists to hear. Like Mr. Manasia. His playing is as good as Jason Moran's i feel. Kudos to Corey Weeds @ Vancouver's Jazz Cellar label for hooking this promising fish.
Rump Slapping Effort!
author: Burt "BIG DADDY" BummerGreat piano playing by the resident pianist himself Jeremy Manasia. He tickles the ivories and performs beautiful originals like 'C' Song, Sweet Child & the self titled Witchery. The record company sat on this recording for over 3 years before releasing it. Good thing The Cellar Live label had I.H.S. in their payroll! Weeds & Hendrickson-Smith are devout jazz freaks and they know and play with great jazz muscians. The Bummer is no fool either...so her gives this cd: five bare bottomed slaps and, a series of red hand prints on your gluteous maximus!!
